Yeah it was the Eighth Doctor, I also spotted the seventh in there as well and it was great to see all the recent monsters in the sketches.

Daleks, Cybermen, Ood, Clockworkmen and Slitheen all made a bit of a cameo last week which really made the episode more interesting.

It was a bit slower than some of the others granted, but I'm interested to see what exactly the Family Of Blood are.

The Doctor's taken on an army of Daleks without running, so what is it about these creatures that made him hide in the first place?

I'm also amazed they got some of those racial remarks past the BBC censors, I know it's there to reflect the nature of the times and didn't find them offensive myself, but it's a programme watched by children, which makes it even more surprising they included the lines.

I wasn't offended myself but in this day & age when some people are super sensitive to any remark that could be construed as being racist it's the last type of thing I expect to hear in a family oriented show. I'll give the show the benefit of the doubt and watch the 2nd part to see if the pace picks up somewhat but I'm finding this series very hit & miss so far.

Being a UK resident BCM, I'm sure you remember all the controversy earlier this year with the Jade and Shillipa Big Brother race row.

A show like Doctor Who really needs to be careful with such a family audience tuning in and the sensitive times we live in.

I wasn't offended by it either, but I can imagine alot of people were and I was really surprised it got past the censor because of that.

The BBC are usually really strict:D

Yea, usually they leave some of the more racier subjects for Torchwood, or so I assumed from watching the two shows. OH well, at least the new episode airs tomorrow. :chew :chew

Yeah but we're getting close to the end of the season again, only 5 episodes left until the season finale and then the long wait till xmas:monkey2

Yea, it sucks. Do all UK shows only have 13 episode seasons/series ? Or is it just who? I want a huge 20 episode season like in the US :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

It kinda depends.

Different shows run for different lengths of time, it really depends how many episodes the channel decides to commission.

Some of the old BBC sitcoms like Only Fools And Horses would have a seven episode series, but they were all classic episodes.

I think Doctor Who has only 13 episodes because they can't really do a bottle show or reuse the same sets like they do in say Stargate SG1. So I think that plays it's part, but British series do tend to have less episodes than US ones in general.

Maybe our actors are all huffy:D

Anyway watched Family Of Blood, won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it but it didn't have many of the revelations I was expecting.

The love story was well played again, but I think the Doctor has had enough love tragedies for a while with Rose, Madam Du Pompador and now this, I think it might be time to leave the tragic love that can never be thing for a while.

Next week's episode is called Blink and looks pretty weird, the trailer doesn't really spoil much very much about the episode

Not wanting to scare monger or anything like that, but does anyone else get the impression this might be another "love and monsters" type of episode where the Doctor and Martha are hardly in it at all, guess we'll find out for sure next week:D

Ah, but look at the writer - Steven Moffat who's previous form, 'Empty Child/Doctor Dances' and 'Girl in the Fireplace', bodes well... exceptionally well.

Nick

True enough

They've signed him up for another two part episode in season four as well so I think we're gonna get to see more of his work.

Apparently the "reveals not much" trailer for Blink was a deliberate attempt to keep the plot as underwraps as possible.

The more you know the more it spoils, here's the trailer if you haven't seen it, it doesn't tell you much though.

I loved the last two parter... absolutely packed with emotion, the main alien kid was well creepy..... seeing the doctor breaking down because "he wanted to stay human" was hearth wrenching........ the drawings in his journal was a great touch too.

anyone who was offended by the racism (no matter how mild) needs to realise that this was prtraying 1913!! they're not saying it's fine now... they were saying how different things were... and by martha's reactions showing how NOT right they were

great shows. RTD is doing fabulous with with Who

Yea but I think I must say.. Id kill someone for the chance to see Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords right this second. I cannot wait to see the cliffhanger for this one.

I'm also interested to see what will happen in Utopia as RTD claims the episode will resolve everything that happened between the Doctor and Captain Jack at the end of the first season, like why the Doctor was so keen to abandon him, how he got off the space station and why he came to earth and why he can't die. Should be a very interesting episode.

I also think the week's wait between Sound Of Drums and The Last Of The Timelords is going to be a horrendously long one:D

loved that episode (blink) & few jump out your seat bits towards the end, next week, Utopia, looks excellent & the first glimpse of the pre-regeneration master?

Well wasn't this the biggest load of crap ever posted on Sideshow Freaks, Blink was far better than Love And Monsters.

I really loved the idea of statues that move when you don't look at them and the twists and turns the mystery storyline took. Even though the show was a Doctor lite episode, David Tennant was a vital part of the plot and had far more to do than in Love And Monsters.

I'd say it's my fourth favourite episode of the season, but to be fair two of my faves had the Daleks in so that would've been tough to beat.

I LOVED Blink. It was actually creepy and I too liked the overal premise. I hope they rope Mr Moffat to write every Doctor Light episode and another 1 or 2 for the series proper.

Yes, I too loved the episode. However, was anyone else having flashbacks to the ghost creatures in the side-scrolling Mario games ... the ones the come after you when you are facing away from them? :D

Apparently Steven Moffat's been signed to do one of next year's two parters, so that should be worth watching.

He's written some classic stuff so far for the show so it would be good if they kept him around for at least a few more series.

DouglasMCC don't remember the ghost creatures from Mario, I had a sega in my youth, I was part of the dark side:D

WOW...finally had some time and just watched family of blood and blink back-to-back, and I loved them both. I did realize that both episodes ended with a reference to beings being stuff in non-living objects. (the scarecrow, the mirror, and the statues moving). I LOVE those type of endings. Two of the seasons best (and blink if my favorite this season so far). and YES, finally Captain Jack comes shows up from his finale of torchwood, it's about time if you ask me :chew :chew Can't wait for his couple of episodes.

I did for one second think that little timothy would end up being captain jack (being exposed to the time lord essence from the watch), but I'm glad he didn't. It was a nice way to end the episode with the doctor and martha showing up to him in his old age.

Did anyone else notice that sally sparrows was playing by Carey Mulligan who played Kittie Bennett in 2005's Pride and Prejudice. WOW, she looks completely different from what I remember of her in that movie (and has turned into a smokin' hottie too :love:love :date:date)

Just looked up every episode that Steven Moffat his written: 1) the empty child 2) the doctor dances 3) The Girl in the Fireplace 4) Blink....those are like 4 out of my top 5 episodes of the whole season. LET THIS GUY WRITE SOME MORE !!!!!

MILD SPOILER REVEALED.

The BBC official website has revealed that both Derek Jacobi and John Simm will be playing the role of the Master in 2007.

I haven't seen tonight's already aired episode yet, but apparently at the end of it Jacobi regenerates into John Simm.

Looks like we've confirmation about who and what Mr Saxon was all along, can't wait to see what happens from here.
