I'm here in the U.K and earlier this evening watched the Doctor Who episode "Utopia" . I won't spoil it for anyone , but I will say that the last 5 minutes are the most exciting T.V you are likely to see this year . And next year . We all know about the spoilers ,so imagine what you expect and times it by ten . Then multiply it by another ten . IT IS THAT GOOD ! I'll go now , my work here is done .

All I can say is that there were so many "squee" moments its RIDICULOUS and I'll leave you with what I have been saying for the last 15 minutes or so "Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God". This week is going to be TORTURE, next week will be even worse.

I think the way they went about things this season was really smart, you weren't expecting Mr Saxon (The Master) to show up until the final two part episode and you were expecting him to be played by John Simm, when all of a sudden this happens.

An unexpected three parter and the Master reintroduced to us through another actor, very nice twist indeed.

I loved the flashbacks to previous episodes like Gridlock, Parting Of The Ways etc and finally we got an explanation for why the Doctor abandoned Captain Jack at the end of the first season and never went back for him in the second season.

The "stop it!" running gag was pretty funny too and John Barrowman was great as Jack, back to his first season best:D

Yeah, basically Jack ain't gay, he'll just hit on any species :D :lol

Loved it when the master asked the doctor to call him by his name & when he does he just shouts "TOUGH!!!"

Captain Jack is like THe Todd from Scrubs, he appreciates hot regardless of gender, and in this case species. WOW, I really love the back half of this season/series. RTD finally came and knocked it out of the park. Can't wait for the last two episodes, but then it's off till christman :monkey2 :monkey2

I cannot praise this episode highly enough. If I had kept going with my reviews... this one would have even topped Blink. Blink was a solid 8.5, this definatly gets a 9. Man.. The Master. What if there ARE more Time Lords out there? I think what happened is that The Master was spit out of the Eye of Harmony and made a deal with the Time Lords for a new regeneration cycle at the start of the Time War, he then turned around, said screw you, and used the Chameleon Arc to hide who he was and BOOM, you have a Master with more regenerations than the Doctor (which will be used up accordingly).

What a awesome episode. 1000 trilion years or 100 trillion years. Excellant idea about the fog watch, wonder what planet "I am the Master" was found on. Doh.
Did anybody see the Doctor Who Convedential afterward, Davies said the were not done with the face of Boe yet, cool.

Maybe they're gonna pull some kinda flashback in the seaon finale revealing how the Face Of Boe found out the Doctor wasn't alone. I kinda hope that's not what they do though, I prefer to think the Face Of Boe is just all knowing rather than have an explanation.

Anyway the British tabloids (notorious for their accuracy by the way) printed a story today about how David Tennant has thrown a hissy fit and bombarded RTD with text message? The reason........... The Master has been given a bigger sonic screwdriver than the Doctor and Tennant thinks that's an insult to his character. I'm sure it's not true, but it amused me whilst I was eating my lunch:D

Apparently RTD also said that the season finale would feature the most ambitious special effects the show has ever attempted. Coming from a show that rammed a spaceship through Big Ben in it's fourth episode that sounds very promising indeed.

Whats interesting is why would DT be angry about the Masters sonic anything at this point? They are starting to shoot series 4 soon I believe so unless they are claiming the Master is comming back in series 4 what's it matter?

I really hope the master is around for series 4. Having such a huge character and only lasting 2 episode would kind of be insulting to the character. I hope he's around for a while (much like the daleks, but a little less sporadically).

The Master will be around a good long while as he isn't owned by anyone else (I dont think) and he can regenerate. Now as to if it will be Simm for a while.. dont hold your breath. *grumbleLifeonMarsgrumble*

Well, I suppose it could be interesting to get a different distinct personality from your villain each regeneration.

Good news or bad news depending how you want to look at it, Life On Mars has been cancelled after the second series.

So hopefully Simm should be free to make at least one encore performance as the Master in a future series of the show.

I kinda like the way RTD is running things with the villains so far, a Dalek two parter once a season and they could alternate the two other villains per series like Cybermen in series 2, Master in series 3, Cyberman again in series 4, Master in series 5.

Maybe they'll bring back Davros next year as well, he's the only major old style Who villain not to get a return yet.

It wasn't cancelled but came to it's natural ending.......producers didn't want to stretch it out too much like some tv series

Not entirely true. Simm had it in his contract for a 3rd series but he doesn't like to play the same roll for too long. Hopefully though being that the Master isnt a lead he can play him a few times a season and not run away from the roll.

I would hope after this series ends, the Master will be back for at least one more outing as John Simm.

But of course the role of a Timelord and the regeneration thing is tailor made for actors that love to scarper to their next job.

They're making a spin off of Life On Mars set in the eighties called Ashes To Ashes, featuring Gene Hunt from the series.

VERY MILD SPOILER INDEED FOR SEASON FINALE

Apparently the last episode of this season's Doctor Who will feature....... f'n TimeLord Warships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

:rock:rock:rock:rock It's probably in a flashback sequence that they show them. Or maybe the TARDIS goes back to the Time War. That should be interesting.

Because Simm is a baby  . And about the Warships.. I've heard tell that they may be robotic or something. All I have to say is that I now no longer trust RTD when he says he won't do something (other than bring Rose back). He said no Master and we got him.. oh how Id love to see a multi Doctor arc next year.

If Billie ever got the urge to return ... even for just an episode or 2, RTD would write one for her in a heartbeat. She has the same pull/popularity with the new generation of Who fans as Sarah Jane Smith has with us old school (well, if 32 is considered old school now LOL) fans.
