Guess Im the only one that really can't wait to see Catherine Tate take over? I just see such potential for the character and such growth.

If her shouting is kept to a minimum and character is suitably changed then I will be able to watch the show, but if she's anything like as irritating as she was in The Runaway Bride then I'll end up putting my foot through the TV screen. I think the worst thing that could happen is they'll try and work the catchphrases from her so called "comedy" series into Donna's dialogue,Nu-Who has already had several cringe inducing references to other popular culture (the Harry Potter bit in The Shakespeare Code for example) and the last thing I want to see is some alien threatening to destroy the Doctor & co and Donna replying "am I bovvered?".

I thought the Harry Potter reference was great! I think the reason I like Nu-Who so much is that it reminds me so much of Farscape - and that show was filled with pop culture references. It's not like Shrek where they're out of place and grating, but come naturally from the characters and situations.

I didn't mind the Harry Potter reference too much.

I think what I like about Nu Who the same as Farscape is that it doesn't take itself too seriously, there's a nice comedy element to it. Take the first episode of season three with the "blimin great space Rhinos" running around a hospital on the moon. It's madness, but it's also good fun.

But the show can still manage to do high drama and shocks as well when it needs to, like at the end of Utopia.

It's certainly my favourite show on television at the moment by far, hope it keeps going for many years to come.

Ok of all the new monsters that have been created since Nu Who started (so I don't mean Daleks and Cybermen) which do you think will end up becoming tomorrow's classics. Here's a list of mine.

Series 1
Slitheen (I liked em)

Series 2
Clockwork Droids
Ood

Series 3
The Judoon
The Weeping Angels

I think these characters will come back to menace the Doctor time and time again in the future at least I hope so:D

What do you guys think?

I did not care for the Slitheen at all. The two-parter from series one stands as the only episodes that I feel kind of "eh" about.

Clockwork droids - I LOVED "The Girl in the Fireplace" and the Clockwork Droids were great. However, I don't see them returning.

Ood - I think the Ood are a great device for the social commentary and morality plays that the Who crew loves to do. I liked the Ood and hope to see them again.

The Judoon - Again, same as the Ood, great device for social commentary. We'll see them again. A conflict between the Judoon and the Sontarans would be great for no reason other than, well, just picture that in your head.

The Weeping Angels - Again, GREAT! However, any episode featuring the Angels will live in the shadow of "Blink" and thus, is doomed to failure.

Myself, I'm hoping a new classic villain (not necessarily monster) would be the Time Agents that Jack was once a part of. Now that the TimeLords are extinct, who's going to stop these idiots from accidently destroying the universe? That's just speculation on my part, and where I would go from here if I were a writer. I don't think the nu-Who crew have any intention of going that route.

I've never seen Farscape or the Shrek films so I can't comment on those but I think many of the references in Nu-Who are very grating and only seem to be there for the sake of it and I certainly don't want to hear any more quotes from garbage like Harry Potter in future shows. The only ones that didn't seem out of place were,

1.The Doctor's mention he met Arthur Dent
(Douglas Adams wrote several Doctor Who scripts)

2.The Master watching Teletubbies and eating jelly babies
(Roger Delgado's incarnation of The Master once watched an episode of top 70's kids show The Clangers and Tom Baker's Doctor was especially fond of jelly babies)

As for which Nu-Who aliens stand the best chance of becoming future Classics I think JTR has summed it up well though I'm not sure I'd include the Weeping Angels, though were they to return in an episode where the Doctor was actually in it for more than a few minutes I'd probably be more enthusiastic about them. Aside from the ones already mentioned I'd like to see the Sycorax return as after getting a ship wiped out at the end of The Christmas Invasion you know they would have a major score to settle with planet Earth.

Just watched "Music and Monsters" on the DVD. I would give my reproductive organs to see something like that. Heck, I'd my reproductive organs just to see the music performed live. To see a production like that, I'd give just about anything.

You Brits are lucky. :drool

I think that was aired last Christmas in the UK, but I'm not sure how you got an invite, or if the public was invited.

I agree though it was a great event, especially when the Clockwork Droids and Daleks turned up on the stage:D

John Barrowman has apparently confirmed he will be back for at least one episode of season four next year.

Personally I'm hoping he appears in one of the episodes where Martha is also back, it'll make a nice reunion show.

Oh well it would have to be. Afterall, Martha goes off to Torchwood, wants to see the Doctor again, only fair that Jack gets to say Hi. Or maybe they really will confirm him as the Face of Boe :lol. RTD did say that we may see Boe yet again.

Would be a great idea for a Doctor Lite episode, we could follow Jack through various points of his life, detailing how he eventually became the Face Of Boe and learn a little bit more about his mysterious past as a Time Agent as well.

If they let John Barrowman and Freema take centre stage for an episode I'm sure we could cope without DT for a week.

So I got to looking around on Outpost Gallifrey.. whats this I hear about a big companion fest at the end of S4? Even whispers of Rose coming back?

It was a Children in Need Concert at the Millenium Stadium last year. Tickets were available to the public. I think it was about £25.00 each.

It was a great night out!

You got to go!!!! Dude you soooooo lucky:cool:

Menmoch - I think most of it is tabloid BS but the rumour circulating at the moment is that there's gonna be a big finale with the Doctor, The Fifth Doctor, Rose, Mickey, Sarah Jane Smith, K9, Jack and the Torchwood gang facing off against the Master, Davros and the Daleks.

Personally I don't buy that this is gonna happen, it would have to be a HUGE three parter to accomodate everything like how does K9 get out of the black hole? How is Davros back from the dead? Why would the Master team up with the Daleks? How does Rose get back from the alternate reality? Too many puzzling questions and the tabloid that printed it is rife with rumour and bull so I'm not putting much stock in it.

That said nobody believed there'd be a Dalek and Cyberman war at the end of season two and look how that turned out?

Yea, who knows. Davros is rumored to be the classic big bad for this season, but who knows. All I know is that Who S3 on an HD player.. sigh so pretty. Even tho its still at 480p just something about it looks so clear, crisp and sharp.

As for the at 5 and 10 though, I think that's only going to be for CiN.

I hope they don't bring Davross into it. In fact, I hope they don't bring the Master back for a good while. Right now there is only one Time Lord and one Dalek in existence, there's something almost poetic about that. Plus Tennant plays the "lonely angel" part so well, brining back all these characters that were supposedly lost in the time war or long before the time war kind of cheapens what the writers have built with the time war angle.

I still kind of think (or more appropriate word would be hope) that FoB wasn't talking about the Master when he told the Doctor that he was not alone. What if he was referring to a new breed of Time Lord that Jack somehow helps create in the future?

or Romana :monkey3 Start the Time Lord race anew. I just wish it was spring already so I can get my fix. I don't even have Torchwood. Jabba or anyone in the UK, are there any whispers on an air date for Torchwood yet?
