None of the Utah shooting was paid for from Doctor Who's BBC budget. It was 100% paid for by BBCA (which is a completely seperate entity from the BBC). Plus they actually gained a ton in government kick backs for filming here. So yeah.

Just saw this and thought it was funny:

"If an American was cast as Amy Pond"

I stand corrected! :)

Another way of looking at it could be that the BBC didn't want to change them too much as it might confuse the more mentally challenged of casual viewers......TV companies seem to think nobody has any attention span anymore so I could see some half baked excuse like that being used.

Or it could just be that the show is now run by a Scot and they're notoriously tight fisted :lol

Least they have guns, not little pithy lasers and a zappy hand... I'm happy enough with the current design if money can be better spent, except it proberly went on Corden.

Proper guns, Cybermats and being from Mondas = A good thing.

I expect Corden's food demands crippled the show's budget :)

Im just excited for the series to start, i dont dislike anything i've heard so far but Corden and im positive despite my comments i'l still be a hypocrite watch the episodes :lol This series just seems to have an ambition thats been missing since series 2 which is a very good thing, RTD era felt fuzzy and warm like a child happy show that tried to feel epic but never quite hit the heights, Moffat seems to have a darker more intense streak and far more willing to lose viewers if it means a beter overall product.

Fair play to Moffat if he actually delivers on his promises as the show has been stuck in a rut since series 2.

A feeling of "anything can happen" needs to be restored and from what I've learnt it sounds like that'll happen although not how most people will expect it to.

Elizabeth Sladen is dead:

Gallifrey Base regrets to inform all that beloved actress Elisabeth Sladen, portrayer of Sarah Jane Smith and all-around superstar to any Doctor Who fan, has passed away from cancer.

Let us remember everything she did for us, how much we loved her, how much her memory will mean to us for the rest of our lives.

Farewell, Sarah Jane. Goodnight, Lis.

Very sad news. What a shock. :(

I think have something caught in my eyes... both of them...

I didn't care for what RTD did with her character but in the 70's with Jon & Tom she was great.

First the Brig, now Sarah Jane.......Big Finish better get Tom in the studio ASAP :(

She will be great loss, gave me a real shock this morning. had just rewatched 'The hand of fear'.
SJC was a guilty treat for me when I got home early from work. K9 will be OK, he has Luke now.
