At 10 am UK time Tom Baker & Louise Jameson started recording their first story for Big Finish :yess:

Cool. Is she taking over for Lis or was this one already on the calendar?

It was already agreed.....6 new stories with the 4th Doctor & Leela :yess:

And the excitement doesn't end there as Mary Tamm has also agreed to do 6 stories with Tom :yess:

I somehow don't think we'll get a series where he's reunited with Lalla Ward and Matthew Waterhouse though :lol

I happened across a bit of info today that might confirm my theory on the identity of the Doctor's wife.......it's ( probably ) not gonna be River :blissy

My guess is that it's the chick from those photos a while back and it's going to be some sort of thing where she's not *really* The Doctor's wife.

My hope is that it's Marilyn Monroe.

I have been able to remain (relatively) spoiler free.. but, um....

Thanks for not image tagging those. I don't know what they are, but I'm trying to stay out. The only major spoiler for me was
The Cybermen
but even that's not too much of a spoiler if you've played the adventure games.

Who do think it's gonna be?

I think Idris ( the chick from those photos ) will be a humanoid manifestation of his TARDIS.

If I'm right I haven't a clue how they'll explain it...........maybe his wife's body died before he left Gallifrey but her consciousness somehow became part of the TARDIS and in this series some timey wimey stuff happens causing her to appear as she once was?

So it'll be a bit of a twist but there's some parallels with an actual married couple,

They've been inseperable for a long period of time.

The Doctor has often referred to the TARDIS as "old girl" or something similar.........maybe he meant it literally?

He's also spent a lot of time inside her :lol

I liked,

The Doctor's line about getting a special straw to make his drinks extra fizzy :)

Canton Delaware III

The Silents gimmick.....the forgetting you saw them is something I can relate to as it's similar to my own experiences with Nu-Who's first 4 series.

The toned down incidental music

Everything else was neither good or bad, just "Meh"

Moffat lovers will be wetting themselves at how "dark" he's being by killing the Doctor and having Amy shoot a kid in the series opener but I'll be hugely suprised if that doesn't get resolved in a nice family friendly way so the kiddies don't get too upset.

Although having said that the identity of the little girl ( which should be obvious ) will raise some intresting questions and then there's River's identity to be discovered and the mystery of Idris etc etc.

I'll give Moffat some credit, his version of Who isn't great but it is watchable :)

That was a wild episode. This is the first time I've really enjoyed 11 and River's chemistry together. Watching them push each other's buttons was great fun.

It definatley has a fresh feel to it, Matt is wonderful to watch and I think he has stepped it up a notch. I need to go back and rewatch it but as far a series openers go this beats any I have seen in the revival hands down.

I am docking Moffat a couple of originality points for the monsters though, a little too reminiscent of the Angels.

So if he spends the next 200 years as Matt Smith does that mean they're intending to end the series?

Or is this a red herring?

And it does make me think that if he has 12 lives and for 900 years he used just one and then in the last 50 he's gone through the other 11? Kind of reckless, eh?
