I am starting to get the feeling you don't like RTD or the new series?

:dunno :lol :lol

I thought the first 2 series were great but things have gone gradually downhill since. RTD's vision of Doctor Who seems to be to make it as much like a US made series as possible,ie full of soap opera BS,political correctness and cardboard characters the audience doesn't give two craps about.

Loved the episode. Interested to see what happens next week, especially since the Doctor's HAND was the one that put the TARDIS in flight. And the glory of Youtube I got to make sure it was Rose.

Perhaps we need a UK thread and a US thread for spoiler Who?

We just got the Pompeii episode which I thought was going to be horrible at first but actually turned into a really great episode. I loved the running gag about the psychic translator. Donna might just be a decent companion after all.

Well, you're the admin...:D

I hope that we get more high end Doctor Who figs...lack of articulation on my Cyberman drives me crazy...

SPOILER

Nice little touch when the Doctor puts a gas mask on , turns around and says " are you my mummy ? " in a nod to the much earlier "empty child" episode :lol

Another nice touch was the mention of Brigadier Lethbridge Stuart from the Classic series. And in a related rant I thought the guy playing Colonel Mace was totally miscast,he neither looked or sounded the part and I was hoping he got wasted by a Sontaran at some point in the episode.

That's what I was going to say. I almost spit out my drink I was laughing so hard. And the wya the guy just looked at him, it was hilarious.

And yes, the doctor's daughter is extremely attractive, I wonder who they are going to say is her mother. maybe SHE was the one that picked up the ring at the end of last season

and here's a link to rose in the last episode

Attractive or not,I still expect the episode to suck and will likely not bother wasting time with it. And seeing as Steven Moffat's story follows a couple of weeks later it looks like I'll be missing a few more episodes too.

I didn't know Moffat is writing 2 episodes this season. He has written my favorite episodes of the new series. The Girl in the Fireplace/Blink/The Doctor Dances/The Empty Child. Just loooked it up, hope Silence of the Library and Forest of the Dead are good.

Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and The Girl In The Fireplace were OK but to me Blink doesn't even deserve to be called a Doctor Who episode.
As for who will be the mother of the Doctor's child,as ridiculous as it sounds I'm expecting it to be Rose. Don't ask me why,I just get this feeling the crappiest of RTD's reign is still to come and it's gonna be something major.

The Steve Moffat stories are my favorites too. I really liked the angle that the Doctor was leaving the clues everywhere but was hardly to be seen and ended up being stranded in the 60's. I thought it was really resourceful as an episode... Perhaps they could have made it a two-parter and edited in how the Doc and Martha got their in the first place and done a "the begining is the end is the begining" type thing. That actually would have been cooler I guess.

:dunno

The lack of Doctor & Martha was my main issue with Blink. Had it been part 2 of a 3 part story it would have made more sense but having your main characters disappear for most of the 45 minutes of a one off story is to me borderline false advertising and seems like the writer couldn't think up anything intresting for them to do.

filmmakers make an episode like that when their schedule becomes overburdened and they can't make their deadlines. nobody writes out the main characters of a show because they "can't think of anything for them to do." The equivalent would be those "clips" shows you get sometimes, like on ST:TNG when Riker came down with a disease that made him remember clips from earlier episodes for the whole show. Blink was a more interesting solution to the problem than that.

Totally agree. :duff

Like in BSG there are stories which focus on the second or third tier characters. Those are the episodes which I feel lend depth to a story (of course Sally Sparrow is neither second nor third tier... yet!) :lol

But just because the doctor and martha weren't in the episode doesn't automatically mean the episode was rubbish. The plot was very clever and written great; I'm not going to say I hated that episode of doctor who just because the doctor wasn't in 100% of the episode.

I'm not saying 100% of the time but the show is titled Doctor Who so he should be there for more than 5 minutes or however long he was in it for.
And what was so clever about it? It seemed pretty standard Nu-Who mediocrity to me.
