Id just like to take this chance that on PS3 and HDTV, the upscaled Who DVDs look AMAZING. Can't wait to check out series 4 when I get it.

I hear that! I have season 1-3 and I can't wait for season 4. People can say whatever about DR. Who but there are few show out there anymore that I can sit and watch with my kids. they love it almost as much as I do.

Word. My son went as Doctor 10 for Halloween last year. One of the things on his Christmas list this year is a Cyberman voice changer. :lol

Just to head Barbelith off at the pass - There is obviously a disconnect where we'll all have to agree to disagree with bcm on nu-Who.

It does seem that the majority of nu-fans (myself included) would cite Blink and Girl in the Fireplace as the best episodes of that season and perhaps the best Who episodes ever.

So I think we can move on.

Ahh so tonight we have a story of a guy, his smartphone, and some awesome Best Buy employees. After dinner my friend and I hit up Best Buy because well, it's the Mothership :lol And after not seeing it Saturday but finding it in stock at the store on Best Buys site, I looked for Series 4. Lo and behold there was a copy sitting there... for $85. Now on Amazon it was listed at about $65. Now what was I to do, pass up taking it home to watch on the new hook up, waiting instead to order from Amazon or bite the bullet and pay the $85. The answer is neither. I pulled out my good old smartphone, pulled up the set on Amazon, had the girl at the register price match it and out I walked with Series 4 for $65 with no waiting. I have some work to do yet so I can't check it out JUST yet but I fully plan on watching/falling asleep to Turn Left/Stolen Earth/Journey's End tonight.

Wow, never thought about doing that - and I bet the retailers haven't either. Maybe dummy screens could be made up with ridiculously low prices..

No idea but it was fantastic. Especially since normal retail for the set is $99.98. This will make the wait for The Next Doctor much more tolerable. I hope though people don't abuse the idea and make dummy pages. Gotta say though, this has me excited again for what is coming. The Next Doctor at Christmas, then the first special in time for Easter. Only sad thing is that we probably won't see these on DVD until spring 2010 as the tentative dates are Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Christmas and New Years. I THINK that is what I saw last. All I know is that all signs point to an older Ten toward the end with Jack there along with him, possibly the Master and maybe even Gallifrey.

"All signs" being completely unconfirmed rumors for scripts that haven't even been written yet! :)

If the Master returns I may be intrested in seeing that story providing they get someone in who looks the part this time.
John Simm is a good actor but doesn't have that "evil" look that Roger Delgado or Anthony Ainley had and as such I found him impossible to take seriously as an evil megalomaniac.

I did the kind of same thing buying a Smeg fridge from a John Lewis store (never knowingly undersold!), took an online print out from a rival company (who also did free delivery) so they undercut by £20 and did free delivery. I was then told in a letter from John Lewis head office that I had highlighted a problem in matching on-line prices, and they were changing their policy to only matching bricks and mortar shops in a ten mile radius... guess I spoilt it for everyone... still I got a cheap(er) fridge... by the way if anyone is thinking of buying a Smeg fridge, don't bother the build quality is all plasticy and crap!

Nice score Sean! :rock :rock :rock

Its sounding more and more like The Next Doctor is going to be less hoak and more drama.

Well I didn't get a chance to watch the set last night but I did just watch Time Crash and it looks fantastic. I just cannot get over how crystal clear it is. Really looking forward to going through all of Series 4.

Like new Battlestar Galactica or something? Which reminds me, James Callis would have made a nice Doctor who then also reminds me of Alexander Siddig who would have also been a fine choice.

Here's the trailer that was posted to the advent calendar (which is unavailable to us in the US):

Watching this trailer, it occurred to me,

Could "the next Doctor" be the meddling monk?

We need more wild speculation in this thread!

I watched the trailer and thought David Morrissey was pretty bad,I really hope he isn't the actual 11th Doctor because from those clips it just seemed like he was doing Tennant's schtick.
The setting seems little more than an excuse for RTD to do "Doctor Who's Christmas Carol" and even the presence of the awesome looking Nu-Who Cybermen can't persuade me to watch the whole thing. Roll on 2010.

I have a really hard time seeing RTD go there. Especially after reading The Writer's Tale.

Well I can totally see it because RTD has slowly restored major portions of the Doctors past and shown the Time War means NOTHING. The Renegades always knew to get out when the getting was good, and the Monk would have a field day pretending to be the Doctor. Oh, and theres a rumor that the last 10 minutes is a huge twist.. regeneration of a time lord anyone? I just get the feeling that Gallifrey and the Time Lords will be back by the end of the specials and this is just the beginning.
