Anyway, that guy above was excellent in Serenity. Also, not to reopen the subject, but I do find it a bit curious that this rumor and the last both involved black actors. Almost like they were purposefully casting for it, which if true, smacks of RTD having a story he wants to tell, which possibly can smack of preaching.

The Fob watch is a pocketwatch with a chain, but specifically it's the ones used to hide Time Lords, ie Doctor as John Smith and the Master as Professor Yana

RTD has said that he is not involved in the casting of 11. Thats SM's baby.

Oh, I see. I knew what the watch was, I just didn't know what a fob was. I thought it was a British slang like "tits" or something. So I was ready to go on a tits watch.
I don't think so. But I do think it may be in part a reaction to the positive reaction Colin Salmon received when people were thinking he might be the next Doctor.

If true this will go some way to cementing my opinion of Steven Moffatt as anyone with the same penchant for pushing overly PC agendas on audiences as RTD and an even bigger ego cannot be good for the show.
Being PC is all well & good to a certain degree but I think people are WAY too sensitive on such issues and modern TV has become far too sterile as a result.

Or possibly that SM was lucky enough to sign one of the top actors of his generation and land a critically lauded name that is, let's face it, bigger than Doctor Who probably deserves?
Most of the other names floated about were white. The only thing this would signal is that anyone was up for the gig. Anything beyond that says a lot more about you than SM...
I will say this: whatever happens in two days, I can't wait! And Merry Christmas to everyone in this thread!
I think whoever the next Doctor is it will be based on his personality and his acting ability more than his color. I am sure there will be some comments about the skin color (especially in the first few episodes) but I doubt they will take it too far and even if they do, that can be a good thing as long as they don't go overboard with it.

It just seems too much of a coincidence that a black actor has never been mentioned as a serious candidate until the USA elected it's first black President.
Still I'm sure he couldn't suck any more than Tennant has so maybe it could be a good move providing there's a decent writer in charge.................roll on the post Moffatt era.
