Gave me chills too, especially with how miserable she looked.. but I think she should have stayed that way. Rose to me should have stayed brokenhearted, Martha I like how she is infatuated with the Doctor but knows she can have her own life and Donna.. well Donna is my favorite so, although I loved her exit and wish it would stand, I will enjoy seeing her back. AND with the Master!

Isn't there some episode with the Brigadier where his mind is wiped of all memory of the Doctor? I remember being really saddened by that... If any of you watch SJA, was there any explanation of that at all?

I think a big difference in the way certain aspects of the characters and themes in the stories are presented between the eras is a word you mentioned and that's subtlety

I don't disagree.

That's not to say the Classic era was always right on the money either but there seemed to be more of an attempt to stay away from certain themes that didn't really need to be in there.

The classic stories were generally written with the characters as empty ciphers. I do actually prefer the older shows but this is something RTD got right. Nobody would be watching the new show if it replicated the cardboard cast of old. There has to be emotional resonance for a modern audience, even if it's just melodrama.

I dunno, I keep hoping that 10.5 won't be long for the Multiverse. Hoping for a Watcher-style regeneration.

I hope he fuses back with the regeneration. 10.5 is the most unpalatable element of the new series to me.

His mind was wiped prior to Mawdryn Undead but the memories came back in that story (hence his subsequent two meetings with the Doctor).

Oh they did? I just had this memory of the TARDIS leaving him on some hillside and as he is waking up he has the sad look on his face. That was Mawdryn Undead? I must watch this one during lunch tomorrow.

Was the Brigadier on SJA? Maybe I didn't give that show enough of a chance...

Just in case anyone missed it on Confidential. I think this is the new design for the outside of the TARDIS (seems to be inching ever closer to the original Hartnell design):

After figuring out how to convert an mkv file to something the ps3 can read without losing quality, I have finally seen Doctor Who in HD... and it was glorious!!!

It was *a lot* better than I expected. There was bad skin here and there (though I think that was intentional, especially with the guards at the beginning) and the effects were seamless, for the most part. My only nitpick is the flying sting ray sperm looking things looked quite cartoon animated. The title sequence - omg! I cannot say enough good things about Who in HD. Hopefully DW will stay on SciFi in the states as I don't think there is a BBC America HD (or at least I don't get it).

Some second viewing thoughts on the episode: I really liked Malcom and the UNIT commander chick. I hope they both turn up in future episodes. Though, if UNIT is to be future who, bring back the Brigadier! I think the fans would like to have a bit of closure there. It seems pretty harsh that The Doctor hasn't looked him up in so long.

Spent an hour or so using Wikipedia searching the episode order and organizing my netflix to put the available dvds in my queue. Man are there a lot! It made me really sad to see how many were lost and never will be viewable complete.

Aint that the truth. Least of which is Troughton's first episode. Too bad we will never get the chance to see the first post regeneration story. :(

Looking at my chart Troughton's whole first and second seasons are largely lost save a few random episodes.

This is where I wish they could salvage the audio (if any) and animate the missing episodes.

Definitely, the 2 parts of "The Invasion" that were brought to life for the DVD release were excellent.

I got "Image of the Fendahl" yesterday which is the latest region 2 DVD release and think it's OK,nowhere near Tom's best story but decent enough.

There's a trailer for "The Deadly Assassin" on the extras which comes out here in the UK next month and that looks much better. Can't wait!

So I got the Easter Special on Easter and just got around to watching it :lol:lol:lol:lol

I enjoyed the episode, especially Michelle Ryan:love:love:love Interesting that the doctor stated that he stole the TARDIS, perhaps we'll get a flashback sequence of him actually stealing it or maybe some more flashbacks of Gallifrey (I'm hoping for this).

Waters of Mars looks interesting, I'll look forward to it.

can anyone recommend the top 10 episodes pre Eccleston to watch? I've seen some from the first 4 Doctors, and some are good, and some are just terrible! Thanks.
