"ROSE SMITH".....interesting, so obviously the half-human doctor takes the name Mr. Smith and he and Rose get married.

Guess what was just filmed today.... The regeneration scene with Matt and David. :monkey2 (or if you are bcm: :blissy) :lol

(at least thats what we think it was since lizo and Ben Cook's tweet said today's filming was historical with David there along with RTD and..... "someone else")

Too bad I couldn't be there to shout "and don't come back......EVER!" :lol

I may not be enthusiastic about Matt Smith either but frankly anyone that's not Tennant HAS to be a good thing.

Filming today in London:

New Years 2005: The Doctor stagger past Rose and she asks him if he is ok. He responds asking her what year it is. She says 2005. He says he believes she has got a really great year ahead of her.

:) :) :)

She had a decent 2005 until her new friend turned into a living firework and shortly after started rambling about Barcelona. It was all downhill from there.

I got "The Deadly Assassin" DVD last week and have seen it 3 times so far, another incredible story from Robert Holmes and Tom Baker was firing on all cylinders throughout.

There was a trailer for 7th Doctor story "Delta & the Bannermen" on the extras which further convinced me not to bother with that era.........it looked awful!

And the reason she doesn't recognize him in The Christmas Invasion is...

From what I hear these are all still scenes with David. Either way I dont really care, I just want new Who already.

Surely you have more imagination than your cynicism would suggest. It would be a rare person who would remember someone who walked up to them in the streets on a holiday and remembered their face 2 years later.

Don't shoot me down for this but I am really disappointed with the Doctor Who revival. The plots seem a bit too childish*, somewhat overacted/underacted and each episode is far too short and rushed.

I miss the days of intelligent and occassionally dark (look at the 60s episodes of jems such as 'The Claws of Axos', 'Image of The Fendahl' or even 'The Curse of Fenric'), nicely paced and written. I also dislike the CGI on the newer series; I mean, in the past the effects could be horrible but by McCoy's era the animatronics and costumes became rather realistic (look at the realism of the Destroyer or the animatronics used in the otherwise awful 'The Happiness Patrol'). Anyway, a bad costume is a lot of the time better than even good CGI as CGI doesn't even have an organic content and is actually nothing more than a detailed cartoon.

* 'Doctor Who' was intended for children when it was created but gradually turned into an intelligent show for teenagers and adults. 'The Vikings' for instance featured a rape. The rape was not shown but was suggested in an obvious (to adults) but subtle manner. Themes like this would not happen in RTD's vision of DW.

Anway, each to their own. I don't like it but obviously a few people here do. So I hope it brings you endless pleasure. :peace

I agree with the "too rushed" comment. But seriously, you have seen the original series and have a complaint about the "over/under acting" in the new series? :lol

Well, I think you have a valid point there. I think, at first, the show was meant for younger viewers. It might grab them and they will continually watch it as they age. But at the same time, there have been episodes that have been dark and, they don't include rape (which is pretty frakking dark), they include some adult related themes. From the new series, The Doctor Dances/Impossible Planet come to mind as episodes that probably weren't meant for kids. All in all, I think the show can appeal to everybody. Not just kids, not just adults, but all.

Don't even get me started on the homosexual references on the show (not that there's anything wrong with that....but it can grind on you a little bit, thanks RTD :banghead), if you want a more adult related show, you should try out Torchwood.

I agree with Pix that the Classic era wasn't without it's share of underacting/overacting but none of the first 5 leads were as guilty of it as Tennant has been.

It would be a rare person who would remember someone who walked up to them in the streets on a holiday and remembered their face 2 years later.

If a random person staggered up to me and then asked me what year it was and then prophesied it would be a good year for me personally while wearing a costume then I would have to be a brainless fool to forget the encounter.

I don't quite get the "it doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but it's kewl so it gets a pass" thing these sort of moments have. It's like Wolverine reduced to a single scene.

If a random person staggered up to me and then asked me what year it was and then prophesied it would be a good year I would definitely remember them ... especially if they were wearing a costume.

Well congrats Barbe as you have confirmed to me what you always knew yourself: what an above average and outstanding brain you have got. Because I am pretty darn sure most of us on here wouldn't remember it. :clap

I also think its funny that you attach the word "prophecy". More likely she would have regarded it as some drunk guy getting fresh.

At the time, sure. And then an alien she's spent the last year with changes into that guy. Even a dullard's memory would be jogged. It's not like the 10th Doctor asked her how to get to Tesco. How many people ask you what year it is and then offer you a personal forecast?

Obviously we disagree... Well we shall see. Sometimes these types of things are all about the execution.
