Had a response to crows typed up but I figured forget it. My head's getting sore beating it against the same tree. :lol

Anyway, I don't mind the PT, just don't watch it much. Hated some of the casting and acting, but otherwise, they're fine. Looking forward to the new one. Have my ticket bought for opening night. :)

Ok, :lol

It only matters in a potential relationship. Would you really want to date someone who thought all the movies you liked are dumb and would never go to them with you?

My wife doesn't care for many of the geeky stuff I'm into. And I'm not into most of the music she's into. I'll see movies with my friends and she can go to concerts with her friends. Star Wars was probably the most important thing in my life as a child and it still has a presence and likely will never go away completely. But to decide who I want date based on it seems preposterous.

I guess that's up to you personally to make that choice but there are far more important things you should share with a significant other than taste in pop culture.

It seems to me people have thinner skin these days than ever before in these boards, even with the new code of conduct.

I see complaints like: "why do people come to say they don't like a movie all the time"? Isn't it the same as coming and saying you DO like a movie all the time?.... It's pretty obvious people have more of a problem with others NOT liking what they like than vice-versa, like they want a circle jerk of praise and agreement, which is very counter-intuitive given the result of the poll.

I find myself having nice little debates with people that don't agree with me, it used to be all out war here in the movie section, and now it's nice and chill.

That's how I got cheated on... Because her friends introduced her to someone at a show I didn't wanted to go to

I agree, if the poll question was does it matter if someone hates a movie the votes would be reversed,
Wd board is the perfect example of thin skin...

Sorry to hear that. If someone is really so shallow as to leave you because you don't have the same taste in music as her, you sound better off without her. I had only dated two girls before meeting my wife. None of them ever became my "girlfriend" because it was obvious from just a few dates our worldviews and/or lifetime goals were not in alignment. They were nice girls. Cute. Funny. Kind. But when there are serious disagreements on particular political and religious issues or if you don't agree about whether or not to have children, I see no reason of prolonging those relationships. My wife liking Batman is just icing on the cake.

not just because of different tastes in music but because I wouldn't go with her to shows. at one show she met someone, then the next show they probably met again (I think she used the excuse of going to clubs or shows to meet up with him)
sure, it was bad of her to do that, but I always wondered what would have happened if I was there in all those shows I hated to go. Maybe her cheating and me not going saved me the trouble of a divorce later on... who knows (blessings is disguise and all)

Threads are popping up like weeds in here these days.. wtf.

Does it matter if someone likes or dislikes any given movie? No.

Do those who can't ever shut the **** up about how much they hated a movie need to get a life? Yes.

Do those who spend the majority of their time praising a movie on some website also need to get a life? Yes. But at least they aren't spoiling anyone else's fun.

Hatin' can be just as fun so praising spoils it too. :monkey3

Fair enough, but having fun being an ***hole is always lamer than having fun not being an ***hole. Every ***hole knows this and therefore the anonymity of the internet is very appealing and often times is their preferred venue for socializing in any capacity.

EDIT: To be clear, I'm not "calling out" people who have disagreed with me personally and painting them all as losers or whatever. I've disagreed with pretty much all of my best "friends" here on this very board and they're all cool guys. I'm more speaking to the overall culture of the internet which unfortunately rears its ugly head here quite often.

There are people who are such big fans of things that after they're done talking with in person friends they take to the internet to continue chatting with others remotely. Then there are the folks who HAVE no real life friends and simply take to the internet to make up for their inferiority complex by trashing things others like. And that's lame and pathetic and unfortunately is not really anything that can be "fixed" other than carefully picking and choosing the sites and threads to participate in.

There are obviously other "types" of people who frequent the internet (everyone isn't a full blown lover or hater, many are just casually passing the time and get sucked into the amusement of clever pontificating which unfortunately just encourages those who get off on such behavior.)
