Skywalker against Palpatine? In the end it was Palpatine against Palpatine. Talk about undermining and hollow victories.

The PT and the OT were a father and son story, the origin of a villain, the birth of his son, and ultimately the heroes' journey of said son to bring back his father and both uniting to defeat Palpatine. While SW ANH could have been a stand alone film and the other two unnecessary, the development of the characters made it into a solid trilogy, with good character arcs.

Rey completely undermines the saga, not just because she's a Palpatine, but because the "final chapter" of the Skywalker saga was hijacked from the Skywalker family by a mystery character with practically zero growth. A merry sue, even if justified by the poorly constructed revelation of her ancestry. It would be like End Game giving Captain Marvel, Capt America's (Avengers Assemble) moment and Tony's final snap. A brand new character with barely any connection taking down the series main villain, while relegating the OG characters to spectators and cheerleaders. That's the "final" chapter of the Skywalker saga.

Thread title spoiler Prime!

Meh, I don’t care enough to have watched it yet and don’t care enough about the story to be bothered by spoilers. Carry on :lol

Yeah thread title should have just said "does Rey's lineage undermine the saga." No need to guarantee that anyone who still hasn't seen it gets spoiled.

It’s all politics. At least the new leads are pretty.

When the next generation rebels in their own way and ruins the current generation’s stories, the current one will feel like you do now. It’s nothing new really. And it will all be labeled progress, and Anyone who stands against it will be labeled a prejudice and a hater, or whatever the future equivalent will be.

there is really no difference between luke and rey in this sense both were spawns of evil *******s, and both ended up good people (if you ignore last jedi). The point is your lineage And bloodline doesnt control your future. You control your own destiny

It's not about Rey. There isn't Skywalkers legacy, there's Anakin's legacy. It does not matter if Rey, Ben or Poe defeats the emperor. All undermines Anakin's legacy. Once Anakin's ghost is shown transferring his power, then who defeats Palpatine is not matter since he/she'll be just a vehicle.
