Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

Do you all think Doom will be up for PO soon.. or during SDCC.... then we'll have a long wait.. or they have been holding up in PO so the wait may be shorter...??? I wonder...

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

is there an edition size on this?

if they make it small it will sell out fast

i hope it is open edition that's a few hundred dollars savings for me from my friend's shop

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

They should just number them as they are made. When they decide to stop making them, release the total ES in a newsletter. As collectors we have a number, as producers SSC can make as many as they want before they close out a piece. Simple.

hope SS will read this thread n give us what we wanted...... numbered product

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

Theres been some paint touchups, but other than that....its the same > i saw the proto when I was at SS a few weeks ago, and its amazing. I just can't fork out 2 grand for a hollow statue. Hopefully they dont run into the issues they had with Darth Maul LSF. It was a disaster and I returned mine.

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

It looks like it is the size of a small child in the one picture. Anyone have any measurements on it?

Sorry yours was not good ... My Maul and the other 3 I've seen in person all look and work great. At least SSC has a refund policy.

This thing will probably ship in at least 3 large boxes. The base looks huge and it must be pretty solid to support the whole thing. I don't understand the concern with the weight of the figure itself bewteen the cloth, leather/faux leather components, cloth and polystone/plastics for the body.

Are we expecting actual medieval armor? I don't know how weight plays a factor at this scale given the logistics of mass production and shipping these pieces out affordably. :dunno

I think it's because non hollow statues are more expensive to make so he probably has an easier time justifying the clear ripoff of $2000 by having the statue not be hollow. Personally there's no way I'll pay 2k but if it goes for less I will strongly consider one since it looks great.

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

Clear ripoff? This whole hobby is a ripoff...yet here we are. One can make a case that no 1/4 statue is worth $400 (heavy or light sculpts alike) but we have accepted the standard "premium format" price as the base and move up from there. So, how does the weight of the statue enhance the way it looks? This is the debate on the Hulk maquette that just comes accross as an excuse for not wanting to spend the cash. Is weight even relevant at 1/2 scale when so much mass will add decent weight to the item?

Now, is the paint rubbing off or is the statue so fragile that it cracks when you lift it up and put mild pressure to it? That would be a very valid concern for me.

I think most of us understand what this LSF line is about. Sideshow wants a piece of the market of that customer willing to pay $2,000 for a collectible or anything that looks cool. You read about it here all the time:

1. Commission threads (Bobby C. anyone?)

2. Daydreaming threads (I'll sell my whole collection if they make this ONE thing....)

3. Cinemaquette, expensive props threads, etc. (you buy 2-3 items from eFX and guess what? you spent $2,000 already)

4. High roller collector threads and youtube videos (guys with large rooms dedicated only to statues with plenty of premium real state for a large attention grabbing LSF).

:lol You sound like my other half! I try not to think of it like that and just think its money that it is going to something that i enjoy rather than booze, cigarettes or drugs! I'm pretty lucky to earn enough money so that i can spoil my family rotten and also put a little aside for myself towards something that i've loved since being a teenager. This hobby sucks financially but rules in every other way!

I'm probably not just speaking for myself when i say that the kids enjoy my hobby just as much as i do. Seeing the excitement in their eyes just makes me even more happy that i have a collection full stop...being raised from a huge Italian family all i got see as a child was mounds of pasta and vino!!! :horror :lol

As the old saying goes, "never say never"...i really think that after i have paid off the Doom LSF and recieved him that i'm gonna cool it for a while in terms of ordering anything else...i cant say what amazing new statues/figures that Sideshow, Hot Toys or Enterbay will come up with before the end of the year but i will try my hardest to resist it...

Re: Dr. Doom LSF!

I'm definitely going to cool it after I get the Superman PF or Punisher who ever comes last because from there on I'll have every comic character which I really wanted which SS has made & I'll just be waiting for SS to make Dare Devil, Antman & Wonder Woman & hopefully PCS will make an Anderson to go with there Dredd.
