Lord, he looks a big boy there!

I'll have to get hold one of these soon as they're starting to go really cheaply on UK eBay.

Thanks for the body swop tips MiskatonicNick. I'm going to summon up the courage to do that soon, although after saying that I may get another Doc figure cheap, so I have a back up just in case I muck it up! :rotfl

Well they've announced a 5" line, but I doubt we'll see any 1/6th scale versions sadly.

They were "evasive" at Toy Fair about 12" Torchwood, but I wouldn't count on them, since they did say that the 1:6 Dr Who was done. :monkey2

It's so sad. So many companies dumping their 1/6th lines. So much potential left too.

I really have no interest in a 5" line really. I'm a 12" gal all the way...oo-err :rotfl

:lol:lol:lol

Can imagine how awesome a 1:6 Sontaran would have been? :drool :crying

It seemed that they produced the same number of each figure. Some being more popular than others they did sell, others didn't fair as well. They obviously picked the wrong number to produce each one. Perhaps someone will pick it up and offer us the older Doctors as well.

Two things doomed this line from the begining.

1) It wasn't a high end collectibles company who produced them.

2) No TARDIS.

Done? :crying :crying

That is sad because Dr. Who has so much 1:6 potential.

That's a shame as I was looking forward to the rumored 12" versions of Astrid and the Sontaran. Thanks to Nu-Who and it's spin offs the franchise has never been as popular so there's a decent chance someone else will pick up the license for Nu-Who,the Classic series,Torchwood and maybe The Sarah Jane Adventures as well. Hot Toys would be my choice as they would the company most likely to make some of the monsters that would need unique body types. I daresay the various sculpts of the Doctors and companions would be pretty damn good too.

I agree. HT taking on Dr. Who would be awesome. (I could even see them getting into bigger stuff like the TARDIS and TARDIS console. How big is the Who fan base in Asia?

I disagree. The company produced very nice versions of the characters. Martha Jones is among the best female figures out there.
The TARDIS, well, yes the lack of this piece was disappointing.

Far too much secrecy and NDAs going around at the UK Toy Fair... but the companies producing Torchwood figures, GetRetro, and that producing Doctor Who figures, Character Options, are completely different entities (but they will match in scale).

12"-wise there are so many chinese whispers going around that it's probably wisest to just wait. Last I heard the 12" new Sontaran was still a definite with further news of the 1/6th's line on hold until after season 4 has aired and the little figs are out.

I'm hoping with 2009 a quiet year for Who in tv, and so with fewer new 5" figures, Character Options might prod the 12" line back into life. Though, of course, they also have 'classic' who 5" figures to work on now too :)

But I hope someone, somewhere will give us a 1/6th Dalek in one form or another.

Nick
(d'oh... lost a couple of days back there; yes, I did repaint my 10th Doctor's eyes a bit, or rather paint around them. Still more to be done, but he needed a quick fix desperately!)

Amen to that - the Martha figure was a triumph; sculpt, paint, articulation, clothing all way above par. She knocked spots of a lot of female 'Collectors' figures for a fraction of the price.

And for Character Options to have put that much effort into her for the UK toy market where the popular perception is that boys do not buy girl dolls is hugely commendable.

No Jack, Rose, Tardis, Dalek or Master... less commendable though ;)

Nick

Oh I would have loved a 1/6th scale Jack and the Master! And I bet I'm not the only one either. :monkey2

I don't know about Martha (I should be getting her in the mail in a few days) but I have heard that body on the 10th Dr was a disappointment. Hope I can get my meat hooks on one soon though. I would definitely be sending the head to a customizer for a repaint since the sculpt was DEFINITELY a solid one.

I'm sadly not surprised, the 12" figures seem to me contstant shelf warmers in UK Supermarkets and Toy Shops (even on discount). As I said a while back I haven't paid ove £10 for any except the 12" RC Dalek, but last week I picked up the Judoon, Dalek hybrid and Ood for £4.99 each on eBay.
This seller (darren9628) seems to have a job lot-

I think someone like HT could make classic past 'Doctors' a profitable line but I think the new series wouldn't interest enough 'high end' collectors to go too far beyond the The Doctor, long term assistants and maybe a Cyberman.

I'm hoping my figures should be here soon, the Martha I got from him about a month ago came quickly, she is a pretty cool figure, far from 'high end' but she has a good base body and for £4.99 she was a bargain.

I wholeheartedly agree about the Martha figure, the clothing in particular was better than many higher priced figures I've bought and the sculpt was decent though a better paintjob should show it at it's best (I've just sent my Martha to Customikey so I'll soon find out!)

Just finisahed transplanting my 10th doctor to a medicom body :) I like the end result personaly . Having fun making him hands now. I'll post pics when My camera battery finishes charging.

And the doctor is IN.

"i used to be so full of Mercy.. Now, one Warning, that's all you get...."
