Rewatching this on HBO Max. Wow no expanded IMAX picture for people watching at home huh. A bit of extra incentive to go watch this in the theater I guess especially since more than 50% of the film had the bigger aspect ratio.

I watched this on HBO Max, I can't justify $40 to see this in Imax.
It was good, but didn't expand enough on what was shown in Lynch's Dune. Great battle scenes and loved the Ornithopters. I liked the Stillsuits a little bit more, but they still aren't as cool as the ones in '84. They didn't show enough of the Baron or Rabban. I liked the "tooth" scene more but Yueh was underdeveloped. Duncan Idaho was great, I didn't think I'd like Momoa in the role, but he was useful in the action stuff and competent with the dialogue. Jessica and Chani were just meh, I much prefer the actors in the '84 Dune and they didn't have much of anything to do here. Leto was great. Stilgar was good, the Freman were alright, things I like better here and other things in the '84 Dune. I don't like that the Fremen are either black or middle Eastern, no reason to not have the Fremen more diverse, this sets up a racial component that I don't think needs to be in the story. Kynes wasn't an improvement, hard to improve on Max Von Sydow but good death scene. The ship designs were great. I didn't like the new design of the Worms at first but I grew to like them much more in the '21 Dune. Paul was alright, I like MacLachlan's Paul a whole lot more, but Chalamet's Paul is more faithful to the book and he did a good enough job, but lacks the charisma of Maclachlan.
I hope there's a sequel, this needs to be completed and might just be a better whole package when completed.

You're talking about Snyder, right?Yeah, he's true artist. I may not be a big fan of his films, but he's got a vision and reason for for the choices he makes. I can't imagine him making a Marvel film.

Snyder is a visual artist with little to no understanding of how storytelling work. He's not a good director or filmmaker either. The man should be a cinematographer. He'd be a highly respected one too.
