Hot Toys replied to my email...

Concerning Batman oil problem in abs area, it was caused by the circle sticker and plastic bag of the belt, please take apart the circle sticker and plastic bag of the belt, then you can slightly wipe off the oil by finger. The oil will not affect the body surface if you can wipe off the oil once leak out.

Appreciated you follow the above method to solve the oil problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please feel free to contact us if there are any problem.

Can anyone enlighten me what circle sticker they are talking about?

No it's not the plastic bag of the belt!! When I bought it with this plastic the dx was perfect. I withdrew it (cause of I thought it was the plastic) and one week after the oil arrived..
The problem is the suit! The rubber...

I think mine is finally starting to show the slightest degree of this problem.

The lowest ab plates just look different to the ones above them.

Do you have a lint free cotton cloth? it absorbs it right up in no time when dabbing before it gets the chance to get all greasy. No damage at all.

Kitchen towel is the worst. It has fibers in it that is abrasive that can scratch. This is why they tell you never to clean your spectacles with that. Hair line scratches.

I am not wiping just dabbing

Yeah but it's still a coarse material but saying that there's all different types and softness/hardness to kitchen paper. Mine is quite coarse due to the real thick stuff.

mine is actually quite soft and very absorbent so hence me thinking this being good to use, it doesnt seem to have scratched the rubber or marked even the rubber so far

How is it after each build up from dabbing. Is it happening less and less, longer breaks between dabs yet?

This talk is a little amusing.

I just do mine once a night each night.

I think sometimes it looks like its getting better night by night then i have a bad night and i think i am back to square 1 again :(

Mine has stopped from leaving the belts off and that was even with the loose setting.

I haven't touched it since over 24 hours last I recall when I first took the belts off... I do believe it takes a little time to clear.

Almost no shine for me today, whereas a couple of weeks ago the shine would come back 2 hours after wiping it clean. Now I can go pretty much a full 24-36 hours before I notice some very minor shine.

And now that you guys are seeing results, hot toys has finally acknowledged the problem and are researching a solution! Ahhhh, life. I am glad you're seeing results though, gives me hope that the third batch will be problem free, or at least by then, you guys can tell me how to fix it.

Just an update on a "project" I undertook and talked about in the DX-02 thread. Basically what I did was cut four pieces of electrical tape in the shape of the ab armor plates, and then I stuck them onto the plates and painted over them. The painted parts of the armor have very thin vinyl strips over them which I think were too thin (or too porous) to contain whatever the oil is, which is causing the leakage. Whatever the oil is has yet to be determined.

Anyway, I stuck the tape on, let it adhere, then painted over it with black acrylic paint to add another seal on top of it. I then waited 48 hours and took the tape off. The oil problem was worse, and even after wiping, it would come back within 20 seconds.

However, the oil and adhesive from the tape had mixed and formed a sort of seal over the ab plates which, when painted over using the black acrylic paint, solidified and formed something similar to the vinyl strips that were initially placed onto the armor. 24 hours after I painted over them, the ab armor is completely dry. The leaking is now contained to the two strips that lie under the belt, which doesn't bother me since it's hidden. I'm going to give it a few more days to see how it turns out, but I'm encouraged. If I end up convinced that I've fixed the problem, I'll smooth out the paint on the ab armor and take pictures (it looks fine to the naked eye but cameras magnify even the smallest imperfections and I wasn't all that concerned with painting on a completely smooth surface at the time.)

Hmm....as much as I would like to buy the DX02, I'm going to wait until this issue is resolved by HT
