Which cost people to fork out even more money for shipping that never solved it for them. Who's conning who here?

Vodoun's referring to people who paid to send back their defective figure to HT to get a replacement that was essentially made of all the same materials with just the film added in between layers.

It was a failed attempt to resolve things, but suckily, those who opted for replacements and got that back for a fix probably won't be able to get another replacement that has this new stomach armor material if it proves to be a true fix, which sucks. HT really shouldn't have replaced anything until having strong confidence in a fix, and if they've continued to try things past the film, then certainly that says they knew to keep trying things.

It seems like they're trying to make the final run of this figure come out problem free but are playing games to avoid a mass recall of the first 2 runs.

This is why I admit i've given up. I do care but won't pay a single penny for additional shipping and what not. I've counted my losses and moved on. I won't make the same mistake again. My advice is, if you see anything you don't like with a piece right out of box, send it right back. Forget the experimenting we've all gone through.

Plus according to Hot Toys customer service page, if your figure has been replaced and it's still leaking you're not entitled to another replacement.

So who's stiffed who...

  • Due to the limited edition nature of our collectibles, we cannot guarantee that all the accessories or items can be replaced. For overseas customers, replacement is accepted within 30 days upon sending out of item as delivery time applies. For Hong Kong customers, replacement is accepted within 14 days upon receipt of item.
  • Replacement claim is only accepted if it is a result of errors in the production or manufacturing process (i.e. receipt of incorrect or defective item, etc.)
  • All accessories or items can only be replaced once only. Replacement does not apply to package and man-made damages.
  • Hot Toys reserves final rights on all replacement requests.

During the Hong Kong release someone had a body supposedly replaced 6 times.

Obviously it sucks really hard that you guys got a defective figure/replacement (I have said this many times in these threads) but for those of us who have been patiently waiting on DCD pre-order for nearly a year, this new rubber development is pretty exciting.

Oh where did this go :p
I am just excited that they have change the material without any flex so it's not even rubber anymore but more of a plastic so chances of this oozing oils is just a lot less likely but of cause they could always have screwed that up again but if anyone were to o through this process one would hope they go for a materila they have experience with and hence my faith in this fix.
And btw I still have the plastic sheet underneath the abs and over the pants.
And as for the new "rules" if I were in the boat I would still pressure HT with the argument that it should not apply to me as the product was purchased and faulty before this new "rule" came about and HT is still responsible.

Of course, but you have to understand that it feels like a big "____ you" from Hot Toys to some people if this pans out. If HT acknowledges the screw up and changes materials for the DCD shipment, the honorable, be it costly, thing to do would be to offer replacements for everyone that got sent defective material, and certainly should offer a second replacement for those given the half assed replacements. There is something fishy about replacements being delivered and the same time, a policy is added to their site declaring that people can only get one. They seem to be going out of their way to not help people that got stuck with a bad one, which is going to infuriate people on the receiving end of that.

Sucks? it's criminal! People fork out over $200 and they get the shaft for their shoddy manufacturing and somehow it's the customers fault...

I don't disagree with any of that. And you have my sincere empathy. I would probably be seething with blind rage in your situation. :lecture

But keep in mind that the DCD batch will be huge. And if the figure really is fixed, a lot of us are going to be whooping it up. People get excited about their collectibles as you know.

Just remember that I am not somehow a symbol of Hot Toys crooked business practices.

If it really is fixed, try and be glad for us. :)

Of course you're not, but don't be surprised if in trying to enjoy your purchase, the excitement level is balanced by and equal ammount of negativity from those who've bought the figure over the past few months. Unfortunately, even if the DCD shipment is totally fixed, it will not cure the situation that this figure has been, in fact it'll probably get uglier, particularly places like here and Facebook. People happy with the results will be slamming people posting frustration here and on Facebook, and people that are frustrated are going to be slamming folks who are having a jolly good time. I'm actually dreading the end of May now, things could get really ugly around here soon.

There is no need for that here. And I really hope everyone can rise above that. Both sides should have empathy for the other side.

That is my goal.

Unfortunately, here and Facebook, people that have been burnt in this situation have been met with hostility, especially Facebook, and I just forsee escalation there, it got bad enough already that HT switched default view to their posts only.

I'd love to see things be peaceful and i hope it happens, but I tend to fear the worst. I just hope that if things work out for DCD folks, they at least express their joy in such a way as not to come off rubbing it in the faces of those who got bit in the ass because things will get ugly if that happens.

Don't do Facebook. Guess I'm glad.

People posting there looking for answers out of HT regarding the problem were criticized by people who didn't feel like seeing anymore TDK business, it was a little troubling, they didn't have to like it, but to put people down for trying to get resolution on a defect that bothers them is messed up.
