So cheap glue on the belt may be the culprit. I hope that's the case.

I did notice that the square magnet on my grapple gun popped out on the handle and I didn't even attach it to the belt.

Just checked under the belt after UltraMarknus' last post. Here's what I saw:

Here's a couple pics to show where the glue/oil line is lining up:

Seems likely to be glue after all.

It is harder to rub off than I would expect of oil. It does come off though.

However it does seem to have some permanent effect. I got mine clean of any residue and it left a "dullish" smudge along the area where the glue was:

This would always be covered by the belt, but I still think I am gonna cover up the clear tape with something to prevent more glue from getting on the figure.

I did not get the 89 Batman, but still winds me up that this is happening again. Hopefully this will not be wide spread, but if it does turn out to be the DX02 all over again, Hot Toys really need to be told enough is enough.

Why? People keep buying this crap. The problems with the other Batman figure did nothing to scare people away from this figure. I peppered the original Keaton Batman thread with, "Is the suit made of rubber?" questions and the fear of it leaking and nobody seemed to give a rat's ass. They popped a boner and raved "best figure ever", "different type of rubber", and took pictures of multiple poses. They'll do the same thing on the next rubber figure released. I almost pulled the trigger on this figure twice and now I'm glad I waited. Fk this fkg BS.

Keep the PVC belf from contact with the PVC "rubber" body... The High plasticizers content of the Suit is the "oil"...

Of the 2 materials in contact the softer material (higher plasticizers) content will degrade

If you look at Rory's picture, there are vertical oil lines as well, in 2 spots, which are in line with the glue from tape theory. It's possible, his had pooled up glue residue that was smudged to the right when he may have twisted the belt, or during shipping as in the case of the second one. The only thing this wouldn't explain is it returning without the belt on. That remains a mystery.

Me personally, I would remove that tape and magnet and clean off (Goo Gone) all that gooey glue and just reattached the magnet with a drop of super glue.

Someone should just clean it, leave the belt off for a day or two and then you'll know when it returns or not

I thought Rory already did that. And if he did, keep in mind that oil basically negates adhesive on glue which would explain why the tape is suddenly moveable.

WOW, just wow, (after scolling thru' this thread) I haven't received mine yet, but yah know what, I just gonna leave the belt on and if it desintegrates in my life-span, then so be it. :cuckoo:

Yeah, you can someday show your kids a clump of oily rubber and say, "this used to be Batman, kids!".

:lecture

...and that's why there was a split shipment on this.

If you have it now, it leaks.

If you have it next week it's the "DCD Version" with non-leaking gunt area...

yeah right.:slap

So there is no need to panic? :panic: .. if Hot Toys can't solve the oil issue when they have to make a two or more pieces costume (i.e. armor glued over the rubber) then there is a big chance we will get more issues with the TDKR line.

So are we now at the point of figuring out which came first, the oil or the glue?

Hmmm...the spot of whatever on mine was near the middle, not where the glued plastic thing is.

Blah....big kahkah.
