you know whats so funny...the Hot Toys Demon Batman has none of these issues yet it uses the same rubber suit...what gives ??
What they should do is, go back to the drawing board and remake the body for this thing out of plastic. Like a muscle body. I don't care if it has exposed joints and the elbows. Do something like the Predator. As long as it looks good and doesn't have this ____ing oil issue, that'd be fine. What they should have done from the beginning is make a suit similar to their MMS 13 Batman Begins which was actually done CORRECTLY and accurately. You know, the segmented armor pieces over a black wet suit/spandex. As soon as they saw Takara's one piece rubber body suit, they copied it. It worked fine in 2008, but it's bitten them in the ass with the DX 02, SDCC/Toy Fair Begins and now, '89 Batman. Do it right, or don't do it at all.
Then they should replace every single figure body with either of the two designs I mentioned.
But they're not going to do this. They're cheap and they'll probably continue this one/two piece suit design until the time (which isn't even how the actual suits were made). Why? Because it's cheap.

That looks more like tape residue. I can't remember if there was clear tape on the back of his belt.

Could be. Just trying to give full disclosure.
No kidding. Hot Toys sure gets away with a lot BS. This has been an on going issue for some time... an issue they must be well aware of. Same with the fading colors on the Iron Man figures. My suggestion is for everyone to STOP BUYING RUBBER BATMANS SO THEY HAVE A NEED TO ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM.
Other than the subpar Bruce Wayne sculpts, and the scale issue with the Medi, I think they were great.

There wasn't, there was a small clear circle of tape at the back of the figure, it didn't come in contact with the rubber in any way. It simply attached the overlapping black tissue paper.
And if it rubs off, it's liquid or oil. It's not tape residue.
And it's in almost exactly the same area as mine. left of centre.
IMO.
Actually...just had another look...it looks, to me, that it is coming from the clear plastic that holds the magnet in the belt on. Like the glue is pliable and maybe leaking from that.
You know, I might be on to something with the metal idea. Hmm . . . . perhaps these things bond and deteriorate because of the magnets?
DX 02 and DX 09 are the only ones that have magnets so far and they're the only ones that have shown oils around the waist . . .
Where's the oil showing up, center left, where the grapple mechanism is, on the belt . . .
Perhaps, but looking at Rory's his is directly front and center.
I might try putting the '89 belt on the Toy Fair SDCC Begins Batman for a month or two. I own two of them and at this point, I would love to see if it reacts the same way. Maybe then we could pin point what's going on with this sucker. I think I'm going to try it, see if the Begins Batman "leaks" at the waist.
I see what you're saying with Rory's. I think the buckle is attached to the belt with glue as well. So it may be leaking from that joint/connection.
....YEP!...I can wiggle that clear plastic part holding the magnet...and it exposes the glue. That's what it is...in my case atleast.
