Has anyone with a DX 02 leaking abs Bats actually have something to report right now the entire ab area is gone..diesenegrated..disappeared??

I've had a leaky abs DX 02 and NOTHING has happened- all intact- just slightly oily- very slightly.
I'm just saying in 10 years will it have changed at all? Because in all this time nothing appears to have fallen apart.
That being said I have to laugh at the reviews on this Keaton Bats... hailed the plastic is different and leaking abs would not be a problem...

Look underneath the belly, in between the top and bottom of the suit (or the shoulders if it's the DCD run). That's where the damage occurs (refer to Kara's pic).

OK I will.....looks like on 89 Bats that seam just under ab plate where oil is appearing.

Hope when I get mine from AE(probably the last batch) this won't occur....

I'm still waiting for my '89 bats(should be this week), but now I have to go check my begins & Dark knight to see if there is a problem - never opened 'em! This will make me reconsider spending $$ in the future!

I never removed the tape from mine, I check later tonight. I hope the one coming from AE combo pack due to arrive May / June has the issue resolved. :slap

So just to recap, Rory is the only one so far with proven oil belly, correct?

I might have had a bit of oil.

Here's what I saw when I took off my belt:

I've circled what I thought was just am impression from the belt. Rory asked about the mark so I tried rubbing on it and then it looked like this:

I would say that there was indeed a bit of oil where the belt had really squeezed the suit. So although, mine wasn't as wet as Rory's I think I can confirm the problem.

Well, I had a spot on mine too, but I can't say one way or the other what it was, so :dunno

Heres my original post.

It was pretty small, smaller than in the shots Rory posted. Just a shiny spot, just slid my finger over it and it was gone. So, oil? No oil? :dunno

Sounds pretty similar to my experience. :dunno

So do any of the other makers:takara or medicom have these problems? Are they making figures for The Dark Knight Rises?

Insightful suggestion - & it's nice to have members such as yourself to give some practical input.. but why should we need to do any of this in the first place?

For the money we pay, these figures at the very least not should require any out of the ordinary modifications for them to be acceptable. It's a friggin' joke. :dunno

:thud::exactly:..........

I don't have the Keaton Bats yet, but all this talk about the DX-02 Bats got me paranoid. I just checked my DCD run Bats for the first time in 2+ years and I'm surprised, under the belt there was oil in the abs area! I thought this was supposedly fixed in the DCD run?!? The belt was drenched in oil from the buildup of me not checking. Just cleaned it all off, guess I'm going to have to check it periodically.

The only franchises that I'm interested in from Hot Toys are Batman (Nolan and Burton) and Metal Gear Solid. So for Batman I'm going to hold out with the rest of the "refugee" collectors and continue to collect the figures because: (1) the figures look absolutely incredible (2) I refuse to acknowledge defeat from oily crap AND (3) it feels damn good to be on a team, even if it's just a team of insane men who're chasing a pipe dream of Hot Toys ever making the perfect rubber figure without any issues.

I've had a few drinks so please go easy on the criticisms or smart-ass remarks if you have any.

What they should do is, go back to the drawing board and remake the body for this thing out of plastic. Like a muscle body. I don't care if it has exposed joints and the elbows. Do something like the Predator. As long as it looks good and doesn't have this ____ing oil issue, that'd be fine. What they should have done from the beginning is make a suit similar to their MMS 13 Batman Begins which was actually done CORRECTLY and accurately. You know, the segmented armor pieces over a black wet suit/spandex. As soon as they saw Takara's one piece rubber body suit, they copied it. It worked fine in 2008, but it's bitten them in the ass with the DX 02, SDCC/Toy Fair Begins and now, '89 Batman. Do it right, or don't do it at all.

Then they should replace every single figure body with either of the two designs I mentioned.

But they're not going to do this. They're cheap and they'll probably continue this one/two piece suit design until the time (which isn't even how the actual suits were made). Why? Because it's cheap.

It's great to have a monopoly

No kidding. Hot Toys sure gets away with a lot BS. This has been an on going issue for some time... an issue they must be well aware of. Same with the fading colors on the Iron Man figures. My suggestion is for everyone with a flawed figure to flood their facebook page with pictures and complaints and try to get a response from them. I feel it could be an effective way to "protest" these reoccurring issues. Try to make some really bad advertisement for them.

That looks more like tape residue. I can't remember if there was clear tape on the back of his belt.
