Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

The first really good overall comparison I've seen.

The body may have improved range of movement but it seems to be the same size and shape as the old one when dressed. Thats disappointing because they've always had him too big.

The head does look like an improvement though still not what I'd call perfect.

:lecture

Thats what I've been campaigning about lately.

mms looks better there IMO.

You don't understand, so I will try to be clear--everyone is entitled to whatever opinion they hold, and they are free to share their opinions on figures on this forum. The problem is when people post things like "I don't see how anyone can think this isn't perfect" or "I don't see how anyone can think that this isn't ****." Opinion on the figure is irrelevant. The focus on other collectors rather than the figure itself is, in fact, borderline trolling, and it is annoying. It has always been annoying, it will always be annoying.

My perspective for the PERS is like so many of my other HT's accessories, I happy It came with them but I don't need to display it. This DX looks so "Bad Ass" with his glasses on that it screams."ICONIC"!!!
It's time my display case featured a figure with glasses on!

The only one that looks good to me with PERS.
Still, glad I passd on this.

Yes, very good here, more his proper age in that lighting with uneven skin tone. Perhaps lens distortion is helping a bit???

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

Nice level headed, calm, non-biased post there Wake? But at least you prefixed it with IMO. :lol

I don't understand HT apologists constantly bring up expensive HAND MADE custom figures which are made in tiny numbers, everytime someone knocks HT's latest release. Hand made, that means they cost a lot more to make. If you decide you love something and can afford it, why not?

But WTF does it have to do with DX10 or HT? Seriously?

HT are supposed to be the pinnacle of mass manufactured collectible toys. And they led the race for a long time. Until money became the major force driving them. Short term sales have nothing to do with long term stability with a very picky market. If HT lose their cool factor they are screwed. We all collect toys, but we don't want the things to actually look toyish. There has been a drop in quality with HT, and they are losing hold of their position in the market because of it. Maybe a good kick up the backside from EB might put them back on course. I certainly hope it will. :dunno

I'm all for a free market with competition! Who's giving it to Hot Toys though? Enterbay? With the terrible QC issues (just visit the MIB thread and ask--like i did--how good those figures turned out). Blitzway with their ONE --albeit amazing-- release a year? Certainly not Sideshow... they outsource their work to HT. WHo does that leave in the licensed 1/6 realm? Medicom.... HAHAHAHAHA

ANd the fact is this figure objectively is BETTER than the MMS release... just like the DX12 is better than the DX2. Not 'toyish' at all. Maybe its not to some of your exacting standards but who are you anyway? Just another consumer. SO long as HT makes its money they wont listen. You have to put all of your hope in their artistic pride... Hoepfully they are embarrassed by that Indiana Jones DX which is a deplorable effort. In fact they could use a shrink ray to miniaturize a hollywood actor and still opinions would be mixed.

Honestly I'm tired of being disappointed by soft sculpts. So tired, that I've gotten quite used to them and now appreciate the sculpt for its wonderful accuracy to Arnie. Sure the sculpt isn't as crisp, and the paint is awful, but I've already complained about those issues before, and the likeness is a clear winner when compared with the MMS. A clear winner.

Maybe, but I personally prefer a more real look thats slightly less like someone than a toy look thats slightly better. This is probably a perfect example.

Perhaps a re-paint would sort this but collectors shouldn't have to resort to that at this price range.

They are giving MMS117 owners no reason to buy this. Strange for a company that thrives on repeat business. The only thing I like about this DX is the stand.

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

I do not own MMS117 so I am not having the struggle to justify the purchase. It is easily understandable for those who do.
I keep thinking what if another Sparrow was released…..

And yet I feel the opposite.

This has got to be the most divisive figure HT has put out recently.

Diversity of taste / opinion is great - always a catalyst for fun discussion. :)
The obnoxious rhetoric of some here though.. isn't.

Perspective.. :lol

Nah, man, these new DX sets are very toyish in comparison to previous sets. If you don't see that than thats cool, to be honest I wish I didn't see it either. But have a look at the heads on the previous page? The DX sculpt is better but it's ruined by that god awful skin texture which makes him look like CG.

In those comparo shots, I think I like the MMS's haircut and hairline better. The DX haircut looks a little too.. long.. like the terminator grew it's hair out a few extra weeks. HT probably had to make some adjustments to fit the microchip feature.. but still.. looks like the t-800 needs to visit the barber for a trim

those sunglasses are going to be a godsend

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

This sculpt does look different depending on lighting I guess. I still like it better than the previous version - But I get what others say about it looking like a toy. The paint on this one looks a lot like the paint on Hawkeye, not as much skin texture as the older sculpts.
And too bad they couldn't get the body to be more like T2 Arnie - I thought they did but alas - anyway, can't wait to receive mine on Monday!

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

I showed my wife the comparison pics. She prefers the MMS, says I made the wrong choice. Thankfully, I can leave it at that.

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

I think if you have the previous version, you only need to buy the new head and weapons to have a DX. I just hope the new head will be an easy fit on the old body without any mod.

His hair-length varied in the film and how it was gelled. Its accurate enough in that regard.

Seems likely to me that they never really saw a problem with the size they made him before so they didn't even try to change it.

Re: Hot Toys - DX10 - Terminator 2 - T-800 Cyberdyne - Official Specs & Pics

I'm just seeing an Arnold / Benicio / Damon combo in that face. :lol

Good point on the hair a-dev - & it's one I'll concede to on the first figure.
The hair is a little too 'cropped', & not as long as it should've been.

One thing I think is just plain out - is the girth of the new head's face.
Could also be lens distortion contributing to that, IDK..
