That's already in place. After 3 non-paying bidder alerts, the account is canceled.

Easier said then done. It's hard to keep unpaid item strikes on your account, people just email Ebay with any excuse on why they didn't pay and the strike is removed. There are sellers on there who constantly rip buyers off and sell bootleg/recast items and they aren't even removed.

Conspiracy theory? :lol Per ebaY, strikes can't be removed. The problem is lazy sellers don't report them.

l had gotten an unpaid item strike once on ebay years ago.(the hard drive went on my computer and l could use it for a over a month). l emailed the seller and ebay on why l didn't pay and the strike was removed. so yeah they can be removed, atleast they did for me so l assume a buyer could just make excuses to why they didn't pay and they might get removed.

I just became an eBay "Power Seller," and supposedly there are some associated "protections" from non-paying bidders. I'll be curious to see what these are. . .apparently I can also get health insurance from eBay now :lol

All that does is make your listing a priority over other listings and ebay doesn't put a hold on transaction funds during an "investigation," sometimes (it's still a crapshoot). The insurance stuff is bull____ that really isn't worth it.

Not a paying issue, but this is just getting ridiculous. I am starting to feel certain people (me) are just not cut out for doing commerce on Ebay. I bid last week on a Bowen Ghost Rider statue (the one on the motorcyle with the cut out underneath of the skulls) and I was the high bidder through yesterday and then the auction closed and I saw I was outbid by a dollar (96 and I bid 95). Well, thinking nothing odd about being outbid I went to my messages on Ebay and had one from the seller. He said "Hello. Unfortunately the ghost rider is no longer available for sale. I tried ti cancel the auction but ebay would not allow it with less then 12 hours. The item dropled and broke. Sorry." Now I couldn't care less about his grammar or misspelled words, but how convenient he broke it when it was going total (with shipping) for roughly $150 when all the other similar ones on Ebay were in the 200's. I figured he was the highest bidder so he could end his auction. I mean, really, has stuff like this happened to others? And why, if I was not the high bidder, would he message me to tell me the above?

Two things...

1) Don't ever assume that you were only outbid by a dollar. That's all ebay shows. That top bid could be thousands more. :lecture

2) What if he did drop it? What he did is considerably better than letting you feel the exhilaration of actually winning, only to be crushed with a message apologizing that you would not be receiving it because it broke. Wouldn't you agree? :huh

No doubt if he's telling the truth. Just odd in the 11th hour and also as it was the cheapest one of those on Ebay.

Yeah, but I'd do the exact same thing if I dropped a statue I was selling while carrying it over to pack it up. I think the fact that he even contacted you shows honesty. He could've just let you think you were outbid and been done with it.

True, I guess I'll never know.

I won a BIN for a cheap HT Spidey about a week ago. . .buyer promptly refunded me, saying it had a broken arm they didn't notice when listing. Yesterday, I noticed a Spidey suspiciously similar to the one I won being sold on the boards here (there were some peculiarities about it regarding missing accessories), sans broken arm, for a slightly increased price and with the seller obviously not having to pay eBay fees. . .strange coincidence. But having said that, I've also sold things then had them break (happened with a DX Joker awhile back), so I know first hand that sometimes ____ happens.

On another note, within the span of a few days, I became a Paypal Advantage member, eBay Power Seller, and now I'm an eBay Top Rated Seller (apparently I get a 20% discount on final value fees now :yess: ).

If I were a cynical man, I would think that Paypal/EBay have decided to try and co-opt me to their cause. :lol

It sucks that the seller doesnt have the protection anymore from deadbeat ebay buyers who dont pay. It is not fair because the seller pays the outrageous fees that ebay makes millions from.

Yes, but eBay's perspective is that those fees are coming from buyers paying the sellers, which is technically true, so buyers really deserve the extra protection :lol

<< newly minted eBay apologist.

I have found Ebay and Paypal reps a lot more accommodating since I went through The Change. Welcome aboard! *twirls mustache*

Ebay is a big reason I love the For Sale/Want to Buy section on this forum. Yes I realize you can be in a pickle with certain members here too, but more than likely, it's going to be a good experience. For me especially, since I have half of your numbers, I know how to contact you! :exactly: :panic:

:1-1:

For the most part ebay has been pretty good, paypal screwed me on a non ebay transaction. Fees are getting really high to sell on ebay though, and what Paypal takes. Out of 30 auctions the past month or 2, 1 bought it and said they couldn't pay, another said he wanted it but no contact, one gave I had personal issues, the other said death in the family, you can check on what people bid on and buy, and buyer #1 had bought over $1k worth of items within a week, and buyer #2 bought over $4k worth of baseball cards over the next week.....so yeah, that is a big reason why I don't remove the listing until payment is in hands.

Does anyone else think it really sucks that ebay takes a percentage of what you get paid for YOUR item you sell? I think they should charge a listing fee, but they should not take any of your items money. Period.

I just had a Lifesize Predator Statue listed on ebay last week, I had a guy with 0 feedback from Japan buy the statue by using the Buy It Now option for $4,000 dollars, I never heard from him again, hopefully ebay bans people like this, im still waiting for ebay to refund the fees.......F#$K Ebay!!!!

Should have added, immediate payment required.

EBay lately as a whole has sucked bad for me also. I get probably one out of every 5 people to flake out and not pay on best offer or bid up items. Its really ridiculous to not be able to hit these jokers with negative feedback. If I am extremely angry I will leave a positive with all caps saying how bad of an ebayer they are...it may deter someone from accepting a best offer from them in the future, I know it would me( usually I will only accept best offers from reputable people on ebay). The good part is people can be blocked and if anyone does not pay once they get added.

Its a hassle but I do not mind going through the process of getting them with unpaid item strikes and I really lose nothing in the end but time.
