Agree with the sentiment here that Ebay has been pretty awful lately for me as well, both as a seller and as a buyer.

Had a buyer try to extort me for both money & more items since he claimed what I sent him was "chewed on" WTF? He refued a 100% refund as well, that d-bag was reported.

As a buyer I just had a seller cancel a figure auction days after I won it and it was supposed to ship without sending a message explaining why. My guess is that it didn't sell for the price he wanted.

:gah:

Just wanted to bump this thread after trying to list an auction and seeing another stupid pro-buyer eBay rule:

Attention Sellers:

A listing may not include statements that discourage bidding activity.

For example, you cannot say things like:

* Find out more about our selling practices policy.
* “Don’t bid if you do not agree with my terms”

This kind of information is unprofessional and may discourage good buying activity on your item.

Please edit your listing, making sure there's no mention of these words or something similar. If there is, you won't be able to list your item. This could also negatively impact your ability to participate in the Top-rated seller program.

Find out more about our selling practices policy.

More coddling of whiners and deadbeats, and they are doing so in a condescending way toward sellers. I want to discourage "good buyers" who wanna drag their feet with paying for an item or who otherwise violate my conditions. That's the point! Anyway. . .

I really wish somebody would compete with ebay. They're pretty ridiculous. I haven't listed anything on their in over a year and I only buy Hot Toys figure parts here and there off of ebay.

They're shooting themselves in the foot. If they make it harder and harder to list items, then people will just stop listing things.

I figured Google would get into the auction business.

With all of the selling/buying/trading going on here, I think we should all team up and make our own auction site. :lecture

Pawning off my Bespin Luke on ebay and have it noted in my auction for USA only.

And of course:

Hello, you can make an exception and send it to Mexico, the shipping is with tracking number to follow up, please I am interested in your figure, if you decide to send tell me the cost of shipping to consider the total cost and auction, thanks

Nope!!!

Question for those in the know:

After 13 years of selling on ebay and shipping with FedEx without incident, I had a statue broken during shipment. The buyer has turned the package and contents over to FedEx and I opened a claim. How does this usually go down?

Yeah, even if you set the auction to no international shipping, they can still bid for some reason. You have to manually exclude the countries.

I got an email like that before, with nearly unintelligible wording. I promptly added the buyer to my blocked list. :lol

I've gotten e-mails like that on every single auction I've ever put on ebay with no international shipping.

Just find a way to reword it. That's what I did when they wouldn't let me put "deadbeat bidders" in the item description under my terms. :lol

Sorry if this has been mentioned but, I just sold two items and received an email from paypal stating:

Dear -------,

Your funds are pending - please process this order

You received a payment from -------.

This money is being temporarily held in your pending balance. It will be held for up to 21 days. While it's being held, it won't be available for withdrawal.

We'll move the money to your available balance after 21 days as long as your buyer hasn't reported a problem. It may be available sooner if we can confirm that the item was delivered or, if this is an eBay item, your buyer leaves positive feedback.

To get access to this money more quickly, please process this order right away and communicate with your customers early and often.

What the hell is this?? Under my listing, I put that I would process the order within 1 day, which I did. So why are they holding my funds? I've never seen this before.

They've started doing this on transactions with higher dollar amounts. Just be sure to update PayPal with the tracking info and get the item off to the buyer as soon as possible.

I'm getting fed up with selling on eBay. I recently sold a broken Nintendo ds on there. Specified it in the item description. The buyer, who is new, complained that it was broken and started a claim with eBay. They won the friggin claim and eBay took my money. I have Power Seller status, stated the issues with the system and they still sided with the buyer...who has a feedback rating of 1. At this point I just sell something and hold my breath the buyer isn't a prick as I'll be out my money and my item.

Did you put that it was broken in the item's title? Or did you bury it in the item description?

Not in the title but not buried at all. Pretty much all the description was the fact it was broken. I didn't list all the wonderful things the ds does and then throw in "ps. The prongs inside are broken" in small print. Am I crazy that I read over the item description before bidding on something? Is this something buyers of a product should not consider common sense to do? I'm serious. I know this is a disgustingly lazy world now.

No, per ebaY policy though you would've had to put "Broken" in the title. Otherwise, they can claim that the title was misleading which is why, I'm guessing, he got refunded. Best to cover all points, especially nowadays, with ebaY and Paypal ever vigilant to protect the numbnuts that use their services.

Wow...thaks for the heads up! I had no clue about that rule. It's upsetting because I was not trying to mislead anyone but oh well. I have a feeling the person won't send it back to me and the money will just be in limbo forever.

You can blame all the scamming asshats who put "this auction is for a photo only" in the description of the item from the title. While it enables the moronic, I can understand why it's necessary.

Ok thanks for the heads up :hi5:. Its been a while since I've sold stuff
