I know this link doesnt really have much to do with this thread but it kinda does being that it would be federally run which would cost money..which i just dont understand why Obama would wanna do it. i know this is about the economy so if someone could answer then move on.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_and_American_health_care_systems_compared

read the first paragraph under coverage and access. seems like a bad plan to me. plus i like having a doctor, i dont want to loose him.

thanks cheech! post 40

McCain address this in his plan. Tort reform. It's increased price of health care because of frivolous lawsuits to where doctors are restricted from performing medical procedures out of fear of being sued for "malpractice." And I think, but haven't researched it much, that there is just as much unethical behaviour in the medical field and inusrance companies as there was in the mortgage industry. I think that is a big reason why US medical system is broken. I'll try and read more into that link when I'm bored at work tomorrow.

edit: I'm all for free healthcare for all. Unfortunately, our currently crooked system will just be throwing money down the drain. Considering how inefficient government is now, do you ereally want to rely on them during a life and death situation? Unfortunately, the medical plans offered by companies are failing too. Trust me, watching my mom go through chemo treatments and the subsequent rats nest of bills and paperwork opened my eyes to that fact, along with trying to schedule an appointment that will take your insurance.

I can work in semantics too. I never called OP a hypocrite. I just found the thread topic and reaction hypocritical.

But...im trying to tell you, the point of the thread was to discuss how people offen attack you based on your politcal views. It wasnt a thread to discuss the candiates.

Which was exactly my point.

Mesa, we're all good. I wasn't trying to censor anything. I even told you that you were welcome to start your own thread (which you have done). I deleted posts which I felt would a) lead to flame wars and b) were off topic.

yes but you gotta see that the way you had worded your original post was a bit biased even if it had nothing to do with the candidates (and yes i know it was off of personal experience) but still could of incorporated the other side...if you didnt want a fame war or it to get locked. just a thought

Cool man, peace bro. We'll agree on how awesome the next newsletter piece is.

I have these debates at work all the time during lunch. I consider myself in the middle, leaning to the right. I hear the arguments from a die hard conservative Mormon and a good friend playing the devil's advocate role of a liberal. We disagree often, but leave the debate at the lunch table.

A skill we would all do better to apply. :duff

It wasnt baised. I pefered Obama, and this guy told me to get my head out of my ass. Many agreed. Many said they would move to canada if he gets elected. This is what happend. I cant change it.

gotcha..but according to the link

"Studies by the Commonwealth Fund found that 24% of Canadians waited 4 hours or more in the emergency room, vs. 12% in the U.S.; 57% waited 4 weeks or more to see a specialist, vs. 23% in the U.S."

It would kinda suck for your mom to get her chemo pushed back just because now the people who were to lazy to get a job can now go see a doctor. (hope no one takes offense to that, but in SOME cases its a reality). just a thought.

but it was biased. cause if you wanted to be unbiased you would of said.

and added " i just dont get it all..you have repblicans jumping down democrats necks for what they believe. you have democrats doing the same to republicans. and on top of that you have the mockery that is now the media. your thoughts?"

But i dunno its cool if we disagree whats biased and unbiased.

She's since passed (RIP) but I went to a number of her doctor visits when I visted ( I live in AZ and mom/dad lived in DC).

We had to take my dad to emergency room once because he couldn't see out of one eye and got infected very quickly (i.e. risk of loosing vision, nothing to wait around for). This was about 10PM at night. He got seen around 2:00 AM. There were lots of people coughing, moaning, and bleeding in the waiting room of hospital (Emergency Care). Hospital was just overloaded. My mom got sick as a result of sitting in an emergency room with lots of coughing patients, which isn't good when your immune system is already low due to chemo. As I look back, half the people in that waiting room didn't need emergency care. But hospital can't turn anyone away if in emergency room. Just further proof of people abusing a system to get generic care, that they probably aren't insured for, due to a broken system. And not enough doctors to man these positions out of fear of being sued for not being able to save someone that entered the emergency room with mortal wounds.

Im sure Dems attack Reps as well....but here, I just dont see it. Cuz its a red state. No one had a Dem attacking story....so if you have one, you coulda shared it.

Those statistics don't take into account all the people in the US that aren't getting medical help at all because they have no insurance, whereas there is no reason for a Canadian NOT to seek medical attention.

point made. sorry for your lose. anyway moving back to the economy

"According to the United States Census Bureau, 59.3% of U.S. citizens have health insurance related to employment, 27.8% have government-provided health-insurance; nearly 9% purchase health insurance directly (there is some overlap in these figures), and 15.3% (45.7 million) were uninsured in 2007.[22] An estimated 25 percent of the uninsured are eligible for government programs but unenrolled.About a third of the uninsured are in households earning more than $50,000 annually."

so why are they unenrolled?

Am I wrong in saying that hospitals by law cannot deny you care?

Sarcastically, but with some truth, (oxymoron :dunno) I say: If you need flu shots, go to the ER and complain about chest pains.

But I think an ER can't turn you away, and you're brought to front of line if you say you are having chest pains.

I'm not sure how payment/insurance is handled in these cases.
