I really hope eFX will reconsider allowing a small part of the future LG replicas to the distributors, or at least to find a better way in shipping internationally. The international customers, excepting some rich ones, had problems with the ludicrous and insulting FedEx shipping quotes, to which most of us have to add extra taxes (VAT, customs, where there is a tax in the shipping too, etc.). Personally I don't quite like this kind of discrimination even if not intended by eFX. A new way of thinking regarding ALL the customers would make everyone happy.

Do you pay an income tax in addition to the VAT, Jkno..?

I pay shipping costs which with FedEx were over $700 to my country, VAT 24%, and customs charges where they also tax the shipping quote too - thus they would tax $1700 (helmet plus shipping) not just $1000 (helmet), in conclusion a tax on a tax. I made the calculus of all taxes yesterday. Another guy from Singapore had an $818 FedEx shipping quote IIRC.

So the whole cost of the LG helmet would have been over $2200 for me, which is insane, and not worth it, not even if the helmet will go for sale for high price later on. In fact it might be cheaper for me to get it overpriced from ebay, than directly at "retail" from eFX, which is also crazy. This all could have been avoided if eFX would have thought a bit more of the international customers ...

On a good note I went for the LE and have left enough money to get the life-size SDS TIE Fighter helmet and armor/bust which is the most accurate according to StarWarsHelmets, and some other cool props as well.

I hope those quotes are wrong, I've had many an item shipped before from the US by fedex including the SSC 1:1 Endoskull (thing weighs a tonne) cost like $90 to ship & got it cheaper including shipping then I could locally...Fingers crossed I didn't make a mistake here

I was just asking a general question on the tax front, Jkno (not specific to the eFX helmet). I was interested in knowing whether the VAT consumption tax (Value Added Tax) was in addition to, or in replacement of, a traditional income tax in your country.

Very nice. If it makes you feel any better, SDS does not sell that to US customers, so you have something we cannot get direct.

Anyone know why SDS doesn't ship to north America (does this include USA and Canada?) I have never asked them directly as I saw what they say on their site so I was never going to buy anything but their products are great so it's to bad

Short answer: Because Lucasfilm forbids it legally. As one of the makers of the original Stormtrooper helmet molds Andrew Ainsworth (SDS) claims "ownership" of it and has been making and selling Stormtrooper helmets (and more) for years without permission or without paying Lucasfilm a single penny of royalties or licensing dues.

There is a lot of controversy regarding SDS and AA, but this doesn't take away by anything the high quality products they make. Most of the serious prop collectors have at least one of the SDS helmets. You can also read some reviews regarding their helmets and such on the best site StarWarsHelmets. But if anyone wants SDS products, there are ways to get them. Once you have them in hand you'll feel no sorry for buying them

The one on RPF has been locked by mods already...

Only because the extreme Vader diehards were being total uber-geek losers and talking down the eFX helmet, condescending everyone else, and taking shots at Gino.

No reason not to continue discussion here. It's not like Sideshow doesn't take forever to release their stuff, either. :lol

Hey Guys. I'm new to Props and replicas world, I usually just collect sideshow 1/6 and Pf's and art canvas. But I just needed to have this Vader Helmet. I ordered the legend so this opened the door to the replica world. So I want to display this helmet with my PF and a Vader replica saber as well. Can someone recommend me which is the nicest one out there and where is the best place to get one? I checked ebay and all I saw was the .45 scale ones. I want one with the display case and all. Thanks...

I've asked a few times and the only thing anyone has come up with for me is the saber from MR. I've got the .45 displayed with my Sideshow 1/6 vader and it looks great. Not sure about the accuracy because I don't collect props either. Would love the large scale as well for my helmet display.

The master replicas/hasbro vader sabers are nice.

But if you really want something very nice, there are hobbyists out there who specialize in doing custom-made light sabers. They call themselves saber smiths..kinda nerdy IMO, but some of them make really nice stuff.

I gotta agree. Those custom one's can end up costing a pretty penny and the FX lightsabers are pretty much that good that all the money you can save just getting one of those will make you very happy

Im down here to, Toowoomba to be exact and i desperately wanted the legend but EFX said to only use FedEx and postage to Australia was around $820, then we get hit with import tax and GST because it is over $1000 so all up it was over $2000 which was just to much even if it will be worth more when it comes out i would not sell it as i was buying it to keep it so a resale value ment nothing. I hope for you they change there FedEx policy when its time to post. I will be getting the LE for $895 with postage so im happy with that.
