Well, according to the stats provided by our ISP, we got more than a half million hits between 8AM and 10 AM! This, of course, was due to a combination of so many people accessing our website to place their pre-order and people repeatedly refreshing.

Again, they didn't say anything about half a million people.

:rotfl Boohooo they raised the ES. Every company does it now and then. Get use to it or get a new hobby. At least you got one.
Don't like it? Give me your order.

How about they can the autograph/print and offer a price reduction?

That would be nice.

Heh. First thing that ran through my head was "I'm going to get canceled aren't I? They f'ed up the orders and I'm not getting Vader. I just know they're about to rob me of my Vader."

Followed by "Oh, they're upping the release to cover everyone. Thank God I'm still getting a Vader"

Then, "Wait, they did what?"

And finally "Oh cool, they ARE going to give us a signature with this one, and a free print."

That was my emotional time line.

I just wonder if they had these in mind before the problem, or if they had to scramble to come up with some sort of bonus to placate people.

I'm actually considering canceling mine. Not because I'm upset about the change, but because I've been thinking that I might prefer the idealized version. I have an LE on order as well from Redford Films (who didn't charge any deposit) so I could switch if I wanted to. Hmm...

Same here...almost exactly. I am a fan of the piece, not the ES, when all is said and done.

Hey, I suffered the same way! :lol

It doesn't bother me too much (yet :lol). They're trying to right a wrong by offering some goodies, along with a free opt out if you're not satisfied.

Though at a 46% increase in edition size (or an extra $114k in revenue), I can see why some would be upset.

screw ES... as long as the quality is there, the world is simply a better place if everyone gets a shot at owning a work of art such as this.

:huh

"And you ask just how much of his "mojo" does Vader still have after 34 years? Well, according to the stats provided by our ISP, we got more than a half million hits between 8AM and 10 AM!"

Hits does not equal people, is my point. They said right in the next sentence that it was largely due to refreshing, so they're not talking about unique visitors right?

True that, just hits so not the same as users.

I just noticed that they misspelled their "favorite artist" Tsuneo Sanda's name (as "Tsuneo Sunda"). I wonder how big the print will be, and whether it'll be exclusive to the helmet.

I think they used the hits number to show there was a lot of traffic, and as an excuse as to why their system screwed up. So much traffic, so many hits, too many orders too fast and bam, 346 preorders on a 250 edition item.

Without seeing their e-commerce engine, it's hard to speculate how that all happened. Judging by their site though, I can believe it did.

I had posted this over on the RPF - Firstly I am happy for everyone that will receive this great helmet but I will forever fell disappointed that I could not purchase this helmet due to the fact I live in Australia and the postage price came in at over $800 which was too much for my limited funds. I also find it strange that dealers from the USA can post the LE which should be the same size as the legend for $150. This does not make any sense to me. Why couldn’t EFX at least offer some of these Legends to there dealers so more people abroad could have had the chance to own this helmet. I know that I must sound like a winger but put your self in my shoes and see how it would feel reading all the excitement this helmet will bring to the 364 people that live in the US or could afford the crazy postage prices.

no email for me yet - I am quite fine with 100+ more fans being able to have this awesome helmet in their collection.

That signature is hardly useless. Brian Muir is the guy who sculpted and hand made the original ANH Vader helmets. Him signing the plaques is the official icing on the cake that this is indeed the most authentic ANH Vader helmet out there.

Why would there be a price reduction? It's not like the additional 114 pcs will really devalue the piece. This thing will still appreciate in value before you even have it in your hands the first time.

And the Sanda print will be exclusive to this offering as well. Only eFX ANH Vader Legend owners will get one.

The ultimate Star Wars collectible just got even better. :yess:

They're not likely to state anything officially until after the ANH helmets ship. I'm sure there will be an EMPIRE version at some point, but not anything soon. And I'm betting the ROTJ Reveal comes before that, perhaps even in 2013 for the 30th Anniversary.
