A 3-2 win in "Fergie Time" over the noisy neighbors was a satisfying start to the season :)

Obertan has just been sold to Newcastle and Wesley Sneijder has dropped a big hint that unofficial talks have already taken place.

Even if City hijack the deal, United's midfield problem could be solved by Anderson who looked a different player at Wembley and young Tom Cleverley came on and was VERY similar to Scholes.

If Sneijder does sign I think Carrick and possibly Fletcher could be on their way out....possible good news for Sunderland.

In addition Ashley Young, & Phil Jones looked comfortable , Chris Smalling continues to put Rio's future in doubt, Shrek ran his ass off and Nani had one of his good days.

David de Gea was a bit shaky in the first half but improved in the second so hopefully he'll continue to improve.

Bring on West Brom!

United looked good against Citeh...though there are glaring holes in that midfield. Still think United will be the team to beat this year. Haven't seen any of Chelsie's preseason games so I'm not sure how they're doing. Hoping Arsenal manage to finish in the top 10...I have a very, very, very bad feeling about this season.

And hopefully the games this weekend won't be postponed due to the riots.

Uniteds second goal showed the difference in class between the 2 mancs. I still think city will go close.
Yep just getting through one of the most difficult times of the year having no world cup, no euro's and no football for it all to come under threat from some snotty nose chancers causing havoc on our streets.

The Spuds game has been called off which means they'll get an extra rest before they visit Old Trafford.

The most suprising thing I read about the riots was that Millwall fans of all people were helping organise the people into patrolling the streets.....how long before cats & dogs start living together?

fabregas out, nasri looking offski and now Eboue looks offski too

not a good time to be a gooner

F them...if they don't want to play for us then they can bugger off. We had to sell Nasri this year, cause if we waited til next year he can go for free. As for Cesc, Barca have been humping his leg now for 3 years...glad that drama will be finally over. We should have Mata signed by next week and hopefully Cahill as well.

West Brom 1-2 Man Utd

The Good
Ashley Young. Looks like he's been in the team for years.

The quality of one touch football when they're on top is at times dazzling.

In an awesome development Anderson seems to have finally developed the ability to run at players and beat them.

Chris Smalling. Ferdinand's latest injury should provide a further opportunity for him to shine in his favored position.

Cleverley, Welbeck & Jones all look competent.

The Bad
Nani. After a great performance against City he was back to his usual self. All the ability but no brains and when fit again Valencia should take his place.

Vidic's injury. Hopefully it's not long term as Ferdinand is out for 6 weeks and Rafael for 10 weeks.

The Ugly
David de Gea. United have always struggled with goalkeepers not named Schmeichel or Van der Sar and the young Spaniard hasn't exactly got off to a flyer.

We looked good for the first 25mins or so, average for the rest. Too many players disappeared out of the game but at the end of the day it's only the opening game and it'll take maybe 2 or 3 to get into any semblance of full fitness and consistency.
I'd like to see Sneijder come. His experience would be invaluable

Newcastle beat us in a WWE match...at least joey barton thought it was a wrestling match. :rotfl:rotfl MANU win a lucky game against west brom.... and looks like noone else will take the title from them. Best thing would be for a mod to lock this thread up since it's clear that united has won the title again this season. Let's start a new thread for the 12-13 season. :dunno The FA will hand Feggie another title and fans can complain how unjust the FA is against them. :monkey1

And still the myth that United get assistance from the FA persists :cuckoo:

There's no conspiracy at work, they're just that damn good....in the Premier League at least.

Where other teams give things up as a lost cause United will fight to the death and that is why they win so much....all of City & Cheski's millions combined cannot buy that kind of winning mentality which is a testament to the manager.

If Nani had finished the chance to make it 2-0 the result would probably have been far more conclusive even taking into account David de Gea's messup.

At any rate nothing is close to being settled yet and with home games against Spuds and the Arse next there's plenty of cause for concern....most of the first choice defenders are injured and the new goalie isn't exactly instilling confidence.

I didn't mean that they get help, but rather the reports on other forums that the FA is out to get SAF as well as united.

You guys will crush us in 2 weeks time. Our team is in complete disarray. With Udinese tomorrow and the reds sat morning this is going to be a very trying month.

Wengers lost bigger better players in the past and has still managed to play great football and stay in the top 4 and I still think they will be there end of season.

As good as the mancs new signings look and have settled, the centre midfield is just not good enough. None of them are world class and although they will probably win the prem, in europe they are still some way off the bigger clubs.

Nasri's on his way out...prob today. That should have their midfield pretty quickly.

And if we finish higher than 6th this season I'll be amazed. :(

Both great players but ramsay is a good player and will get better. wilshere has the world at his feet. Iv also watched quite a bit of chamberlain at southhampton... he is a cracking player. Big step but he looks really good. Wenger needs to justifie the 6% ticket rise and the loss of maybe 2 great players and get the right players in. Find it crazy he hasnt brought a left back to cover gibbs. Hate to say it but i have money on Arsenal to finish top 4 and and i think I will win.

Problem with arsenal is that Arsene wenger is too soft on his players.

He needs to incorporate a little bit of fabio cappello douchebagness and steel up the arsenal kids.

You guys read what Theo Walcott said about cappello in his biography?

To paraphrase: "Theo I will kill you if you cut in from the right wing and don't hug the lines"

OK, fair enough. I think the fact that a member of the Manchester City board of directors is also on the FA board is where all the rumors come from and when you look at how 2 similar incidents were handled it does look a bit suspicious eg,

Rooney swore on live TV & got banned, 2 City players did the same in a live interview after the FA Cup final and nothing happened....Hmmm.

City won 4-0 against "mighty" Swansea last night so they're apparently going to win everything now :lol

The transfer window closes on the 31st so there's still time for other signings to be made....Fergie not going for Sneijder could be a mistake as far as the Champions League prospects go but providing De Gea gets through his dodgy start I think they've got enough to win the league again.

Galatasaray sign Emmanuel Eboue from Arsenal on a four-year contract.

Gervinho receives three game ban for violent conduct.

Wenger needs to spend spend spend imo
