Maybe there'll be a war like with the Godfather and they'll keep tweaking both figures and we'll get something really awesome! :rock

Two things:

I am starting to realize the massive problem both the Enterbay and HT prototype shops have and by that I mean the obvious photoshop touch ups done in general. The problem is that they are rather misleading...more so than usual. Think about the Enterbay one specifically. That background and the lighting really changes how you think of the expression. If it had the Hot Toys background for example, then I imagine we would all be saying how the smile looks cool and it looks like Jack is planning some brilliant plan. Because of the way they did the background and lighting though, you would think he was the antagonist. I feel like we can only say so much about these two figures until we actually see the prototypes on display. Also, I think that the outfit will be where the real competition starts. We've gotten alright looks at the top portion and nothing more.

And the whole Medicom thing is what I also wanted to address. Now Medicom fails pretty hard often times. They have no accessories, their sculpts are too simplistic (usually), they sometimes have balancing issues, they are over priced, etc.. but this isn't always true. Does anyone here have a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure RAH? I feel like the people raging about Medicom are stuck in 2005 or something along those lines. I don't know how their Luke is (I didn't even know it existed nor did I know Enterbay was working with Medicom until I read this topic), but their Jojo figures are amazing. The Dio Brando is especially good. He feels quite durable, he looks exactly like how he looked in the series, and he's ridiculously flexible and I mean REALLY flexible. He's got some crazy articulation. Obviously, anime is where Medicom shines, but I wouldn't count them out so soon this time around.

So if you're going to be upset about this figure, be upset about something we actually know. For all we know, the body could be the best around and could survive a nuke.

Well for the people who got the Akira Testsuo figure that was a recent release, the ankle broke just by looking at it funny. So that disproves your theory on all recent Medicom figures are durable.

It at least suggests that some of them are. I've got to say that's pretty pathetic though. It is even a collaboration between Bandai too. I mean I love their Jojo figures, but Medicom is pretty terrible. They charge way too much. I want their Hei from Darker Than Black, but it was an exclusive and goes for around 300 dollars now, despite the fact that it is a very basic figure. The Tetsuo came with little to nothing and was still about 200 if I remember correctly. What really kills it for me is things like their Bakuman (I think that's what it's called) figures. Painfully basis and generic and yet it is still 200. I don't know why they have all their figures stay the same price when they are so rarely created equally.

But don't Kaneda and Tetsuo have smaller bodies? I imagine their bodies aren't really a good example of what Jack's will be like. And just how much of this is handled by Medicom anyway? I don't understand how this kind of team works. Does Enterbay handle the outfit and facesculpt while Medicom provides the body or something?

Monger, props to you for trying to be reasonable in these Pirates threads, but if you're after reasonable and measured discussion within a week of two teasers being released, then you're SOL :lol

It's 90% speculative discussion, and that leaves a lot of room for people to voice their bias, hopes and expectations.

As for Medicom and Enterbay, it's not surprising there's a lot of hate out there for these companies. Hot Toys have come on the scene and shown fans and collectors how to create high-end, high quality figures at a fraction of the price these pumped up elitists have been asking.

Medicom is known for its crap quality period, and one or two examples to the contrary isn't convincing. I have a couple of Kamen Riders that are awesome in their styling and detailing, but I don't pose them cause I know even the new bodies are susceptible to spontaneous breakage.

Enterbay have a well-deserved reputation for crap QC and releasing figures that are not up to the same calibre as the teasers they used to promote them. I call it a cynical ploy to generate interest in their over-priced figures.

Hot Toys on the other hand release a proto pic and you know that in almost every case it will be at least that good and in a many cases it will be improved by the time the figure is released.

So Hot Toys are a safe set of hands and Medicom and Enterbay aren't. I think that's why people aren't prepared to back these companies, because it's a case of "I'll believe it when I see it".

I'd pre-order straight up from HT based on their proto pics. With Medi and EB, I'd always wait for the in-hand pics and reviews. As soon as Jack is up for pre-order, I'm biting!

Re: ENTERBAY :pirates of the Caribbean

Enterbay did a smart move though, the only reason they need Medicom are because of the licenses, less costly for Enterbay.
Actually, they both need eachother...EB needs the licenses,Medicom needs Talent.

I hope that Enterbay moves toward picking up some famous anime or manga whether they be ones already covered by Medicom or not. I think that would be a good move for them since Hot Toys so rarely does that and I imagine it would sell well in the Japanese market especially. I think Gantz would be an interesting choice. For those who've never heard of it just give it a google search. It's characters with these black suits and weapons. It'd be easy to make an entire lineup of them.

And often I see the argument that Hot Toys is more about realism so they don't do anime while Medicom seems to be better suited for that, but the irony is that the anime related figures Hot Toys has done (Appleseed, Golgo 13, 20th Century Boys) blow Medicom out the water and just look amazing. Seriously that Tomodachi/Friend from 20th Century Boys is too good. Same with the Golgo 13. I'd like to see Enterbay handle some anime licenses because I know they'd be higher in quality like the Hot Toys ones. A perfect example is their Onimusha one. I plan to get that because it's just too awesome.

I think Sideshows should have partnered with Enterbay. Sideshow's price is cheaper than the other 1/6 companies and they have a huge library of lisences. And with Akira, Bandai made the bike, that's why it is made of diecast and working lights, sound, and very durable for around $400, Kaneda and Tetsuo was Medicom...well you know how that went, undersize fragile body and crappy clothing for $200.
I just hope they learned their lesson with how Hot Toys is giving people what they want and charging a decent price.

Re: ENTERBAY :pirates of the Caribbean

They are compared to Hot Toys, The team is very small. They are almost mom and pop as most of the family work at EB

"Mom and Pop" is a term for a small business ("small" as in profit) that's run primarily by family members because they can't afford outside help.

That definition does not apply to Enterbay.

Maybe when they first began that definition applied (maybe) but it definitely doesn't apply now with all the products they've already released and all the licenses they've had/have.

Like I said compared to HT they are very small, business is never easy at most times and going up against a powerhouse like HT is tough.

I've seen the operation and believe me, these guys work very hard and I commend them for still being here and having all the passion they have with such a small team.

I have not been to HT HQ but some of my friends have and they tell me its 10x bigger than EB!

So yes to me they are 'Rinky Dink' compared to the top dog!

My veiw is HT are Like Ferrari and EB is like Pagani!

Maybe it is just me but I think Enterbay's looks better than Hot Toys. I think the likeness is better although it looks more evil....

I agree that the whole facesculpt is better on the Enterbay, the only area where the Hot Toys DX is better are the eyes.

And that's an easy fix even for my poor skills

I like both figures, for me the issue is cost, both'll be well over $200, so only 1 for me and I think HT will offer more value for the cost, we'll see. I'm trying to make one ultimate Sparrow for myself and depending where I can get the pieces I need, I may get the EB and pick up parts of the HT. I'd like to get the EB head if nothing else.
