I'm sorry but this looks like absolute guff. Throwing aload of blood and gore on screen does not a good horror film make.

I quite liked it. It won't have the charm without BC but it looks like it might be fun.

Lets be honest, updating a classic like Evil Dead was going to upset at least 50% of the purists. Even if they reincarnated a 25 year old Bruce Campbell for the movie, people would still look at this as a cash grab. Myself, I am mixed - will see it, but going in treating this as a very different experience, which it clearly will be

Garbage.

As for the Bruce as a producer so don't worry attitude, adorable.

I love how people keep saying, "It'll be okay since Bruce and Raimi are attached." Both have fully admitted to being whores if the check is big enough. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case here. :lol

As much as I like Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, it's still no reason to run and see this movie based on what I've seen. There just seems to be no reason to re-make this, just like there was no reason for Rob Zombie to re-make Halloween. Perfection doesn't need a do-over.
The original E D was a classic and E D 2 (which was great as well) was basically sort of a re-make or re-telling with a bigger budget to work with. Then you have A O D which is tied to the originals but is still a classic in it's own right.
The lack of originality in horror lately is just pathetic. :(

Still looks just like a ED recap that trying to concentrate on it's disgustingness, with little to none colours and mediocre "I-don't-give-a-crap-about" actors/characters.

Yes, because the original was an in-depth character study with oscar caliber performances, and not a schlocky gorefest with community dinner theater acting.

The over the top gore in the original fit in with the over the top acting etc... This movie seems too serious to support the crazy gore.

The first works because of :

Or quite simply put. Bruce.

And because shock value was differant in the 80s. We never saw something like Evil Dead become so mainstream at that time.

Today the gore is meaningless. The 80s did a great job of grindhouse expliotation and the early 2000's films took it to the next level with Saw and Hostel. Thanks to those series, today's audiences have seen everything from graphic child murder to genitals cut off and fed to animals. It's retarded it's come to that for several reasons most notably it's ruined shock value. Shock value doesn't exist anymore and so this movie will never have a chance. We've all seen tons of movies where all the main characters die and humanity loses. Top it off with a story we all already know and no interesting actors to draw us in and all you're doing is refining the effects of the original if you can even call it refinement.

This is the very definition of a torture porn, zero orginality, zero story and acting, realistic as possible graphic violence. And it will in no way bring a new generation of younger viewers into the fan fold, the young kids who actually like this movie will think Bruce's version is retarded.

Taking it to broadway is brilliant, remaking it like this is nothing but a waste of money.

The original is horrible. The second is awesome and we'll always have that. This remake won't hurt anything. I'll give it a shot. On HBO.

I agree; had not seen the original in at least 15 years, and I could only get thru half of it before fast forwarding it......Ash was mostly serious, and we only get a glimpse of 'ASH' once in that original

Oh no you didn't!

Well. . .I'll probably give this one a shot on DVD anyways. But the new trailer doesn't do much new for me, either.

Listen, I love OG Evil Dead as much as the next fanboy, but it's a low budge splatter flick with some neat camera work, that's it. This ain't like Gus Van Sant having the gaul to remake Psycho.

Yeah, but at the same time you have to ask...what's the point? Besides money?

It's 2013, and after Cabin in the Woods....we really don't need another one. Even if it's THE BIG ONE.

Yeah, I mean... I enjoy the original Evil Dead, it's freaky and cheap, and Campbell is just as bad as the other actors in it... The concept is great and it's definitely a cult classic, but it's far from being a great movie...
This remake looks pretty freaky and I for one will be watching it... I understand that the hardcore fans hate this... I hated that they remade The Karate Kid for example... but this one at least, looks to be a good remake... we shall see!
