I've watched tons of horror movies and I still find some of the new ones scary... :dunno...

:horror

I don't buy that for one minute.....does watching killing or torture bother you? if you answered NO....desensitized!

That's because morons keep paying to go see Paranormal Activity movies and are "scared and terrified" by them. :lol

Paranormal movies have gotten boring. I'm tired on the cheap looking cam hand/security footage held movies.

I've been desensitized for a long time now.

desensitized!

I don't care

Films are not scary anymore because what you don't realize is...you have been desensitized

constant watching and the unknowingly conditioning of the mind by watching intense things/horror..you get use to it..

there were many movies that scared me as a kid/teen- like 'Demons' and 'The Exorcist'...but today,to my own unliking, nothing scares me anymore in Horror movies

My Nephew couldn't even last 10 minutes watching Evil Dead 2 (you may laugh, but its true)...because he is innocent and has not been desensitized

Conditioned!

Not for everyone. I know quite a few people that still become scared from horror films from many different time periods that have watched a ton over their lifetime.

For me personally, I was never scared of horror films (and I started watching them at age 9). Though any films with depictions of rape and very prolonged torture scenes I cannot watch and have to fast forward through (so unsettling to me...yet I've seen dozens that had such themes/scenes but I still cannot get through such scenes).

All depends on the person and how easily they can be conditioned and how strongly you self impose said conditioning I would wager.

Plus, I'm not entirely convinced being desensitized to horror films is such a bad thing. It's when you become desensitized to reality....that's a problem, ha!

that's where the problem lies...when people see violence in reality, they ignore it.(instead of helping someone, they go into a brain dead state)

I have seen video's of a person hit by a car,was laid out on the Sidewalk and people literal just walked by him or right over him...while years ago, that would of never of happened! (eventually after 15 mins finally someone showed up to help)

The reality was the person was hurt and nobody cared, and that is not a normal society. We ARE influenced by what we watch and hear no matter what we think or say and Society tries to mimic what they see and hear..(yes not everyone falls under this catagory, but many do)

and Many times fiction reflects reality, what seems maybe innocent, isn't really so innocent, especially to our minds

I believe that was debunked (not the murder, the fact people just watched).
I have heard that the original report was exaggerated, but there was still a bystander effect at play where people neglected to become involved here when they could have. I personally don't think movies, videogames, etc. have contributed to some moral degradation of society. Over time, various cultures have reinforced morally repugnant behavior in different ways.

I do think TV has contributed to an ever shortening attention span, however.

I think technology in general is more harmful than horror movies. But what the hell do I know? :rotfl

Dude, back in Biblical times people would get stoned or beheaded while the whole town watched as amusement...
So, no, it's not a sign of the times... humans have been pretty barbaric throughout the years.
That doesn't mean we're desensitized... I can absolutely differentiate between reality and fiction. Sorry if you can't! :wave
