So, I found the Evil Dead remake script online, felt like reading a few pages before I went to bed......well, I finished it one sitting. HOLY ****. If they keep it as good, and as nasty as the script...then man, we got a great remake on the horizon. It stays TRUE to the source, but still does something new with it.

I'm actually surprised they're going 100% real effects, with ZERO CGI. Some of these things sound like something a lesser director would just file under "We'll do it in post". But no. If they keep to their word, it's going to be a brutal, badass, new addition to the Evil Dead franchise. I'm excited.

Plus....this line made me giddy as all hell.

I believe the shotgun and chainsaw are present in the first film. Don't worry about Ashe. He really became a cult hero in Evil Dead 2. Evil Dead he was pretty vanilla.

I was watching the original Evil Dead on youtube and man does it SUCK! it turned into a claymation/****fest at the end

Evil Dead 2 is a much better result (remake) and defined Ash into the Cult Hero he is...

honestly Evil dead 2/Army of Darkness are really just one long movie,while Evil Dead doesn't really exist to me (it sucked)

Looked like a cut from a simple fake knife shot to a prosthetic tongue to me.
I did read in a set report that 100% NO CGI is not true - they will be combining elements using digital effects - mostly stuff like flames, etc. to make the actors look "in danger" - but the gore is done practically, no CGI blood, etc.

Probably going to peace-out of this thread now since it's starting to smell like real spoilers. Hope it's good.

While the original was a much more somber, gory experience than Part 2, I am actually a little concerned that this one is gonna be too gory and disturbing. The older I've gotten, the less I need the ultra violence...I'm happy with more implied than anything

Evil Dead is one of those movies you love for the nostalgia you feel when watching, not because the Claymation was really all that. IMO even Evil Dead 2 had more than its share of cheese.

Army of Darkness is just a vehicle for a bunch of great one-liners by Ash. Which is great, everybody loves Ash but scary.... not. Can this version of ED scare me? We shall see. Buckets of blood everywhere is not scary to me, I'm gonna need more.

It makes it fun. If you go into an Evil Dead movie and expect using your imagination for the violence...then you're in the wrong franchise.

The series has always been about visceral over the topness.

That element made the Hostels lame and ran the Saw franchise into obscurity. And honestly, I think you're mistaking "visceral" for camp.
