Seems you guys are in the wrong franchise then. I don't know what to tell you.

The script is pretty campy. Or at least I think so. It's not nearly as serious as I figured, but it's not quite ED2. Somewhere in the middle.

But like Evil Dead 2's making of feature's tagline says....The Gore, The Merrier.

Seems more like you don't know what the **** you're talking about, to me. :huh :lol

The camp in Evil Dead is in the same vein as GWAR's campy violence. There's a silly aspect to it, an over the top ridiculousness. The gore in Saw and the Hostel flicks, with it's uber realism is NOT the same. Nice try though. I think like Nova's doing with ASM, you're trying to make this relevant to justify liking it. :lol

That happens WAY too much on this forum. The gore in this remake does look ridiculously over the top. There was more ultra realistic gore in that 2 minute trailer than in all of the Evil Dead movies combined.:lol

I don't know, I'm pretty sure when you cut your arm off, 20 gallons of blood doesn't erupt from your wound. :lol

But hey. You can't make campy stuff today, as a sad as that is. This forum is a huge testimate to that fact. A lot of members turn their nose up at anything remotely campy. Which is very sad for me, because I dig it so.

All I hope for in this, is that they up the gore to a point that makes it really crazy, and fun. Which the script is. It'll freak the **** out of the younger guys, but I feel like I'm just going to laugh, and laugh.

The sad thing is that Hostel actually had an interesting premise: what if there really IS a place like that? its not impossible. But it was just too visceral and realistic for me to see more than once. Saw just flat-out bored me, did not capture my imagination at all.

I think with the original three ED movies, there certainly was some camp there, especially regarding 2's green blood all over the place. THIS movie.... I think they are going to go for "serious." It remains to be seen how hard-core it will get. If its too out there I will spend considerable time looking away from the screen.

The first movie was supposed to be serious. And for some, it was, back then.

Now, i still find a lot of that movie hysterical, but it's hard to tell weather if it was intentional or not. I'm so used to Sam's camp style, it's hard to really say what's played straight, and played for comedy.

I suspect many fans have seen Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness only. The original was a very different movie - while its very dated, I recommend it to those that have never seen it

I saw the original before I saw ED2. It still contains enough gore to get an NC-17. Times have changed. That was shocking then, but it's pretty tame for today's standards.

Original ED is NOT rated, its not NC-17. It was just left unrated. Theres nothing in there worth an NC-17. If THAT was NC-17, the new one would be XXX for violence.

In 1994 it was given a NC-17.

Things change. What was once intense back then, isn't so much now.

And the tree rape was a problem, and a few other things.

too much gore, or gore over the top can ruin a movie. It becomes stupid and pointless.

Look at movies like Tokyo Gore Police... what a piece of S___

if you like bad B-movie horror with the over use of claymation special effects gore...I guess

No it can't. Peter Jackson's best movie is Dead Alive. And that benifited from the gore. It became hilarious. And that's what made it fun.

And this movie did beat it in terms of blood use. Which is interesting.

Wrong again. The gore isn't what made it hilarious. It was always intended not to take itself seriously which is what made it hilarious. The gore was a tool in realizing that goal. You're not going to win trying to lump the original Evil Dead and now Dead Alive in with the likes of Hostel and Saw in an effort to validate this movie. They're apples and oranges. Both fruit, yes, but so distinctly different.

Is it my turn? Ok, i'll bite.

The over the top amount of gore was part the comedy But that still doesn't make my point wrong. What are you laughing at during the Lawnmower scene? The gore. THE GORE. That's what makes it funny. Blood shooting in every direction, spurting all over the place to a really insane level.

Django was the same way. And done deliberately. You get the harsh, realistic violence, that makes you look away in disgust, and then you get the comical, over the top cathartic violence, where people just EXPLODE.

And who mentioned Hostel and Saw? Those movies tried and failed to be intense realistic violent movies. (I said failed.) But this movie? I'm not sure yet.

...wait...

Actually, I have no ****ing idea what this argument is about, and why you're getting on my case about it. :lol

Gore isn't funny? Well, **** yeah it is. Or it is to me. When people explode in comical ways, it's great. When Ash gets blasted with 4 gallons of blood in the face from one person is hysterical. When Lionel takes out his lawnmower and decimates the zombies is a riot. Were you trying to say that's not what MADE the movie funny, but was a part of it? Yes. Of course it was. But that doesn't make the that scene unfunny.
