I guess I have to ask...then why call it Evil Dead? (Rhetorical, I know exactly why "name brand recognition = money") If you're going to take away what made it special in the first place, why not do your own story similar to it?

I don't see that they've taken anything away from the original. The first one wasn't funny... well, not intentionally anyway.

Just saw the bootleg trailer, looks cool.

It'll suck ass of course. :lol

That would require having a clue about the idea of "original concept."

I'm all for remakes as long as they're actually good.

Some movies, that people think are originals, are in fact remakes. But no one knocks them for it.

Just a couple of examples, The Fly (1986) and John Carpenter's The Thing (1982).

Two great movies (yes, I know that's subjective) that I've even read others say are superior to their original counterparts.

The fly would be an awesome remake and so would jaws. We need a new shark movie to get the bad taste of shark night out of peoples minds.

The Fly already had an amazing remake in 1986. As for Jaws, sorry, but shark horror movies have been a joke since they went CGI and SYFY'D.

:mwaha

Two classic remakes you mentioned right there. Too bad most remakes can't look to them as an example. :(

because cabin in the woods is already taken. :lol

Exorcist, The Shining, Poltergeist, The Original Omen ect. are more my speed. I know that's not the "popular" opinion and won't be on a forum like this. Frankly I don't give a ****.

So people who liked the original Evil Dead can't also be fans of some of those films, or enjoy more traditional horror? Okay.

And yes Bruce is a straight up B movie actor that only fanboys would care about.

Bruce knows he is a B-list actor and he's completely fine with it, as are his fans. Its pretty hard to insult someone over a concept he has fully embraced; Bruce would not give a damn that you branded him "B." lol

Why would a Jaws remake help? Wouldn't it be the same thing?

Agreed! The only thing that could be improved on is the shark itself, and if it was improved, the filmmakers would show the shark as much as possible, thereby taking out the mystery. Part of what made Jaws so great was that the shark didn't work, so they had to use the barrels which ratcheted up the tension so that when you actually did se the shark, it was badass.

Leave Jaws the f__k alone!!! The Fly might make for a pretty good remake however :dunno

Think about it. Just like ASM, they could make Bruce all CG, make the live characters all useless douchebags and wez would eat that up like a fat kid scarfing a bacon-wrapped, deepfried twinkie.

Nobody understanding that, especially after the man starred in a movie named after him and patronizing his B-list movie career, is a lost cause.

This is true. Unfortunately, this is the exception to the rule. Two of the greatest all-time westerns--the Magnificent Seven and A Fistful of Dollars--are remakes of Kurosawa films (as, arguably, is Star Wars :D ). And sometimes remakes eclipse the originals. Recently, I think the U.S. version of the Ring is a good example.

I actually thought Ringu was better. But other examples I felt were marginal improvements were the TCM, F13th and Amityville remakes. Well thought out examples that don't tarnish, and marginally improve upon, the classics.

I wasn't insulting anyone. Literacy really has taken a plunge. You can be a fan of whatever you want. Of course you can enjoy whatever you want. I said personally I don't like it. Okay?

Second he is a B movie actor and of course one that writes a book claiming to be wouldn't be insulted by it. :slap

What happens in a situation like this is some fanboy (you) don't like my opinion. You are such a fan that you feel it's your duty to defend what you hold so dear. That's dumb. I have my opinion and you have yours. Get it?

hmmm, although most remakes nowadays suck, i'm always willing to give a new project the benefit of the doubt and approach it with an open mind. basically, judge it only after i've seen the actual film itself.

that said, there are certain remakes that make me uncomfortable. the upcoming robocop one is a good example. as for evil dead, i was skeptical at first. then i saw the bootleg trailer. and tbh, it does look promising. at least they're not shying away from the gory, exploitative elements of this kind of horror. i'll be there opening weekend...
