I can't say the US caused the problem in the Middle East, although they have not helped it. The Middle East would have plenty of issues if the US had zero involvement. You have a groups of people under the same basic umbrella religion that hate each other. You have the issue with Isereal and all the other Middle East continues, you have Pakastan and India (at least you use to).

If it had been left unchecked and left on their own I wouldn't be shocked if that region was uninhabitable. Pakistan and India would have nuked each other, Isreal would have nuked anyone who tried to attack them.

No no. Not the sole cause. But a cause. I had a professor that compared the Middle East to a shattered windshield that hasn't actually been broken. Dangerous to touch. Just spiderey cracks every where with no discernible clues as to where the initial impact was nor how to extract the broken windown without making the whole thing crumble into a million pieces.

Well I think the history shines a lot of clarity on why things are so heated in the Middle East. To turn a blind eye and say that the US bears no responsibility is simply not true. US foreign policy since WWI has planted weeds that our now rising up to smother us (to quote Malcom X, I think). My honest opinion is that we seem to be reaping the rewards of the decisions of our father's fathers with regards to the Middle East.

Remember, it wasn't that long ago that the middle east was considerably more educated and cultured than their western counterparts.

Really the whole situation is so hot and complex I can't see any likely resolution to it. In the end, the US had to act. There was no way to avoid it. But the US has to acknowledge their role in helping to create the problem, that is key, I believe, to beginning to fix this problem. Turning a blind eye will solve nothing.

Yeah, times change. Now woman can have jobs and uncover their faces. Who would have thought. Now someone can say something about a religion without the fear of being stoned to death.. Some are just stuck in the Stone Age.

Side note, I have the utmost respect for the law and worked hand in hand with them as a paramedic. I know they had a job to get done and things were tense. But it still does not sit right with me the way they were handling people as they were voluntarily coming out of there homes. They were acting accordingly and yet they still were ripping at people's arms who were not the suspects. I know damn well, if this happened in my area I would have had my gun armed and on me at the time. If they were acting this way for these people, what would they have done then if they found a weapon in the home that was out? Or if I wanted to secure it before leaving the home like a good gun owner? I know I would become very upset seeing my wife and children being grabbed and mishandled with guns pointed at them knowing full well they are not the suspects when they are obeying orders.

someone once showed me a pic of Iran or Iraq in the 70's and it looked like a groovy place. nothing like it does now.

****s just crazy, all these bombings, the raping of women and children in india..

The world needs an enema.

Gotta love that we're actively supporting Syrian rebels who will almost certainly become a problem once in power due to the Muslim Brotherhood. It spells guaranteed conflict for the forseeable future.

With all due respect, the US covert operations that have come to light over the years have made it quite clear that all these guys are really good at is stirring up hornet nests that far exceed any true national interest. Corporate and MIC interests sure, but what do our people have in common with these various cultures? Any war that we begin becomes part of a greater crusade whether we like it or not, and we lack the cultural coherence to really come away with anything that resembles a lasting victory.

The war is at home.

Dammed if we do dammed if we don't.

to quote someone smarter then me......3rd world countries sometimes create terrorist groups to do the things that it cant be seen to be done aka hezbollah in lebanon......the west creates terrorist states to the same end......israel saudi arabia ect ect

Same thing in Libya. We were arming rebels. What's is wrong with us. We have no idea who these people are and now, these same rebels are turning on the government there.

How about Egypt? We supported the guy there and that's not working out. The Muslim brotherhood has a stranglehold now on it. He pretty much said he is above all laws... Dictator again? We will see how that turns out in 5 years. Syria is the same thing, we are giving these people weapons and we have no idea where these weapon are ending up. Yet our media just does not care, they are so far up o's rear. If this were bush they would be all over it. I just want honest reporting back and no political agenda.

Your watching the left wing media then, the right wing bash Obama like crazy, exactly the opposite of how things were when Bush was president.

I just go on the computer to yahoo my homepage and skim..I don't watch the news.I have no ties to any news organization .I didn't even know this happened until my wife called and told me. We don't have cable here. Thought it would be hard to adjust to not having cable, but I actually love not having it..lol..

I thought you lived in London? Did you move?

Yupp, moved in December.

And Shia radicals poured into Iraq from Iran and Syria to slaughter Sunnis. Now they have Egypt.

I only see one common denominator, and it's not American money. And even though you are free to call Israel a terrorist state, I will refrain from naming the factor that Sunni and Shia share, as it is not my intention to insult you.

To be clear, the state of Israel partakes in terrorism IMO. But i'm not calling all Israeli's terrorists by any means. I'm sure the majority of them are peace loving people, just like the majority of muslims or any other people.

With respect to where we stand on these issues, it's clear we have quite different opinions which are unlikely to change overnight. I would hope though that you go and visit some of these places (Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan) some day to get some first hand perspective. Heck i'll even host you in Pakistan if you wanted to come.

Pretty much what i've been trying to say.

I hate discussions like this, politics tear people apart.

Two of my favorite posters (Void and Devil) debating about governments and how it all works.

So, when are you coming here void? Wasn't that one of your plans this year?

I'm here bro. In Charlotte, NC right now working on recording Part II of our album :wave

Will be in the US till 10 May.

Charlotte, NC? Hey I live there!

This was posted on Facebook. https://imgur.com/a/Nx8EU

Wasn't it decided that the guy they stripped was not the brother?

They are pointing at the military looking guys, but look after the bombing, they still have their bags on their backs...

And in the photo "suspect still had his backpack" it doesn't take a genius to see that hand is connected to the person with the red/pink coat/shirt running with the hand up near their face, just behind the suspect.
