Went and saw this with my boy last night, and I will say that I've enjoyed pretty much every marvel and DC movie released to date, yes even IM3 while it wasn't great is was still enjoyable to watch.......This one sadly was just bad, BAD.....I can't put my finger on exactly why it was such a horrible experience for me, maybe it was the actors in their roles or writing and directorial direction, but for me this is probably the worst movie I have saw in a very long time if not ever.....and I went into this movie with an open mind while not giving a **** about anything anyone had said online.

So you should only partake in online discussion if you agree with everyone else? Try again.

Bandwagoning is typical and narrow-minded. If all your opinions come from other people's then you have no voice.

no, not agree. that's being a mindless drone as well.

but if 90% of people are saying this is bad... well, maybe it just happens to be bad?

It's like, instead of dismissing them as just "Oh you know the media" how about you explain what part of their reviews is wrong? When I hated on Jurassic World I explained why I hated it. I know a lot of people love it, I don't. It just shows me the movie had things I hated that other people either didn't mind, or ignored or didn't have a problem with.

if the reviews are being unfair, how so?

There's a movie called "God is Not Dead" that features a Christian kid having a public debate in front of his Philosophy class with his Professor about evidence regarding the existence of God. It's a so so movie but one of the best lines in the entire film is when the kid's pastor tells him, "Don't try to be clever, just tell the truth."

Because really, the majority of the internet is just people trying to be clever, trying to be hilarious, trying to get "reputation," or just announcing their already entrenched personal biases (and trying to be clever, hilarious, etc., when doing that as well.) There's only a few people that I ever see here giving honest opinions without thought of how those opinions conflict with their biases or how unpopular they may be.

Is the new Fantastic Four terrible? From what I've seen, it probably is. The trailers haven't wow'd me, everyone making it seems to be a flippant, uncommitted ***hole, and rarely have underwhelming footage + idiots somehow come together to make a good or great film. Is it a "worst movie ever" type of film? Doubtful. Is it a MOS or TDKR where people will reference its missteps for years to come? Again, I doubt it. Honestly I doubt enough people will even see it to make it this big thing that stays at the tip of our tongues. I'm sure I'll watch it on FX or something a few years from now just like I did with Rise of the Silver Surfer a few years after it came out. By then I'm sure this movie will be long forgotten by everyone else.

Internet douches were wrong, Attack of the Clones is a masterpiece! :yess:

i really need to revisit the last 3 (first 3 in analogical order) of the star wars movies. they might be better the second time around, one thing for sure from what i recall they were still better than this last movie....

Then don't watch it. :wave

Well I did make a lengthy post a few months back about how The Phantom Menace really isn't that bad. It's hard to judge the prequels as just their own movies and not constantly weigh the new story elements against the established OT narrative. I do think AOTC is a pretty terrible SW movie, and not a good movie on it's own, though I'll still take it over even the best Star Trek. So again, hard to ever judge anything completely free of bias, and it's pretty clear where all the regulars here stand on this or that. I already know who's going to like (and not like) any given MCU film, I already know who's going to hate on The Force Awakens for the most part and so on.

I'm not saying I know how guys like you or a-dev will judge any given film, as I do feel like I've noticed that you can both enjoy films for what they are without pre-loving or hating them in advance, but most people here (and on the internet in general) aren't that way.

well it should be obvious i wont any time soon :)

(and you guys should stop reading about it or stop coming in here :wink1: )

So unless we're coming in here to bash it we should stay out? Ridiculous. Its even more ridiculous that you won't see it because the internet says you shouldn't.

More and more I'm starting to see how dangerous social media is becoming. People are just followers now with no individual thought. The notion that its cool to bash something because other people are bashing it is such a breakdown in contemporary society.

no

i told you, tell us how the rating and reviews are wrong, is simple.

if you disagree with a particular review i would like to know how they got it wrong, that's all. I would love to see how someone giving this a 1 out of 5 stars is wrong and how they misunderstood he movie (im not being sarcastic either. I used to hate alien 3 a lot and someone here made me see how the movie was better than I thought)

Anytime someone attacks rotten Tomatoes they always just say "oh well you know Critics don't know anything" that's what I dont like.
thats a cop out. "Critics are evil and scary booooo" that's not a good reason to disregard reviews just because you disagree
if anything it is more dumb to disregard someone's opinion just because they happen to be on rotten tomatoes.
you are automatically ignoring someone's review because it is online... lol

this is really not the movie to be so defensive about. If you were talking about Jurassic World or something else I could take you seriously, but this.... you really want to back this one up? :lol:lol

Im surprised at how hurt the Fox fans are getting. You didn't even see this kind of defending for Terminator and that has a BIGGER fan base :rotfl

This isn't about "FOX fans being hurt" or trying to defend the movie. This is about employing logic by judging a movie based on its quality rather than its negative buzz on social media (which DISNEY is probably responsible for in the first place).

The first act of the film is strong, focusing mainly on Reed's bond with Ben and Dr. Storm's respect for Victor, along with the mechanics of the inter-dimensional experiment. The second act is solid, covering the aftermath of the transformations via a foundation of realism and the revelation of Victor as a great threat. When you enter the third act, the film clearly ceases to be Trank's and becomes generic with a rushed final battle and a cookie cutter conclusion.

Having had a chance to hear about Trank's cut which was screened a while back, the third act was much stronger with
Victor's return amounting to a much longer cat and mouse game between him and the FF inside Area 57, the final battle being much more serious with Johnny ending up in a coma and Ben seemingy beating Victor to death (he literally cracks his face open, allowing the breathing apparatus that had fused with him to fall off) and the government continuing to use the door without the FF's consent amounting to something else crossing over (that looked like Annihilus). The last shot was Reed, Sue and Ben sitting by Johnny's hospital bed. As Reed's about to doze off he notices the flames engulf Johnny's body and then they cut to black. Much better ending then what we got. The stinger also sounded awesome with Apocalypse abducting Doom thinking he was Kang because they share the same DNA, clearly beginning the crossover with the X-Men.

The film in theaters is by no means a terrible film, just one that suffered some post-production butchering. Like The Incredible Hulk, its a good movie that could have been great had they left it alone and not tried to make it more accessible. I give it a 7/10 but from the sounds of it would have given Trank's cut a 9/10.

The biggest crime right now is seeing generic popcorn crap like Iron Man 2, Thor (2011), Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World & Ant-Man certified fresh when this film sits at a Rotten 9%. Disney's involvement with the press is becoming obvious at this point and its only going to get worse as they alienate more and more filmmakers like Favreau, Whedon and Wright and continue to release lifeless summer fare that critics will still rate 8/10 or a B. I actually read through most of the Ant-Man reviews. The biggest shock to me was that most critics gave that film the same score they gave Batman Begins or X2. Nonsense.

Of course the DISNEY disciples eat it up and can't wait for the next PG-heavy, safe, tasteless, forgettable MCU installment.
