I don't drink, soda, or junkfood. I have the occasional cereal/protein/granola bar here and there, but for the most part I stay to my chicken, veggies, and fruits. Stay to the outside walls of the grocery store people. The isles in are mostly junk. I say mostly, because there are the occasional good stuff.

Still eating gummy bears and drinking?

If only people had listened.

Actually many fruits are considered off limits because of their high sugar content.
Again, over-simplification. Your job is as a chef, but sometimes when you've got a full time job, maybe are in school and raising 2 children, McDonald's is a quicker alternative to spending a couple hours making a healthy meal.
Another oversimplification: People can eat McDonald's on a regular basis. It's not exactly the food that hurts you, it's what's in the food. eating healthy is expensive for a full family. Whether it's a Big Mac or Spaghetti and Ragu, there's garbage in each that an overindulgence of can create medical issues.
I'm just pointing out that the go to argument that "Oh, they're lazy fat-f@cks, is a lazy ignorant argument in and of itself."
There are many mitigating factors to the obesity problem and if you want to have a rational discussion then we should discuss each point instead of turning this into "Wisdom I got from a Cracker Jack box."

That's all not true. You can go to any bookstore and buy (or look on the internet) and find quick, easy healthy meals.

Those are a few links for quick or cheap meals with about 5 seconds of looking. Point is the majority of people that are over weight are over weight for a reason, ie lazy and don't care. Sure there are some people with medical reasons for being fat, but that's a small percentage. Most Americans are fat because our country has become so lazy as evidence by the increasing number of government handouts. People need to learn to take responsibility for themselves, and in our current culture, that will likely not happen. Shameful in my opinion.

There's a lot more to it than just being lazy and don't care. Sure you're always going to have people who are, but it's really not that cut and dry for a lot of people.

Yeah, but. . .

". . .in rat models the development of obesity coincides with a progressively deteriorating chemical balance in reward brain circuitries. As these pleasure centers in the brain become less and less responsive, rats quickly develop compulsive overeating habits, consuming larger quantities of high-calorie, high-fat foods until they become obese. The very same changes occur in the brains of rats that overconsume cocaine or heroin, and are thought to play an important role in the development of compulsive drug use."

"When we removed the junk food and tried to put them on a nutritious diet – what we called the 'salad bar option' – they simply refused to eat. The change in their diet preference was so great that they basically starved themselves for two weeks after they were cut off from junk food."

There is a scientifically proven addictive quality to unhealthy foods that makes the "lazy and don't care" argument insufficient.

I'm glad I'm not a rat.

This started in the late 50's early 60's with the inventing of high fructose corn syrup. Even Skiman can tell you what kind of total **** that stuff is and after generations of people consuming it, it's created monsters sorta speak.

So people switch to diet soda thinking they're doing the right thing only to find out that it makes the problem even worse. I've tried really hard to avoid all sodas now.

btw......Aspartame was made by Monsanto, if anyone even cares.

Looks about right to me.

Riveting.

I tried to keep it short and to the point. :lol

But really...I used to be a 240 pound lazy slob who ate anything and everything. Now I exercise 6 days a weeks, watch what I eat, and now weigh 190. Except for a few rare instances, I haven't been to a fast food place in 7 or 8 years.

Beer and chocolate are my only downfall. :(

Aspartame is a literal poison, but people drink/eat it down like water and we wonder why people have health problems/cancer issues among other problems it causes. The Soda companies don't care because they know they have you addicted and have your $$$
