I tried to keep it short and to the point. :lol

But really...I used to be a 240 pound lazy slob who ate anything and everything. Now I exercise 6 days a weeks, watch what I eat, and now weigh 190. Except for a few rare instances, I haven't been to a fast food place in 7 or 8 years.

Beer and chocolate are my only downfall. :(

Good for you though, Batty. That's amazing. I too work out 6-7 days a week, and I eat right. I do hit up the fast food once in a while but it's so rare I feel like it doesn't count.

Wine is my downfall..and cheese.
:dunno

I try not to judge obese people too harshly. While I have always been pretty active, throughout my youth I ate like a pig. I could shovel down whatever and however much I wanted and my body would burn it off before it settled anyplace. Now that I'm older I have to be more careful - but if love handles start appearing I go easy on the food for a couple of days and they disappear. It's easy for me, but I can't believe that a big part of it isn't just pure genetic luck.

In my opinion there's a big difference between 'wanting to be thinner' and 'wanting to not be obese'. It's just not realistic for some people to be lighter and thinner whilst still being healthy imo. Some folks are just naturally heavier set. But obese people... seems that not eating so much is the way to go.

It's not really about judging. I don't look at an obese person and judge them. It's up to them how they want to live

Whining and cheese. The nutritious meal for any SSF thread. :lol

That actually parallels my own experiences. I went from about 240 to 200, but I only exercise periodically. And as I posted earlier, I splurge every once in awhile, and will eat whatever I want when the family goes out to eat on the weekend.

Going back to the addictive foods thing, I think that was definitely the case with me. I would get migraines if I didn't eat/drink certain kinds of foods. Then I found a medication that kept the headaches away, that gave me an opportunity to change my diet. I did, and stuck with it long enough to break the addiction without the assistance of meds. Now, I don't feel the urge to eat that stuff anymore the way I used to. It's easy to fall into the bad eating trap and then get kind of stuck, so I take issue with people trying to say that everyone who does eat badly are just lazy and stupid or whatever. There's more to it than that. College living was really the catalyst for my bad eating behaviors.

I seriously was. They're still a guilty pleasure. But I'll eat 1 or 2 a week max. Sometimes not the whole thing. And I try to stay away from complementary french fries, which by themselves are usually about as unhealthy as the hamburger itself.

Nowadays if I do get a fast food burger, I'll usually get the kid's sized one. Kids' meals have enough nutrition for an adult meal, and are about the size of the meals you get in European fast food restaurants in my experience (including the small drink). The adult sized ones are really overkill.

Chocolate beers are pure sex. :yess:

Well now I want to try some! :lol

Me too! Isn't that the kind of beer Drew Carey and gang made on his old sit com?

Buzz Beer! :yess:

Thanks! It certainly doesn't get any easier as you get older, but I'm glad I did it and have been able to maintain it.

Here's to splurging once in a while. :duff

That's how I conquered my burger addiction a while back. I found that I was only ever interested in the first couple of bites to satisfy the craving and after that I wasn't really enjoying it. The kids' size burger makes me feel like I've indulged without leaving me with a heavy, greasy gut.

Haha, yeah.... we're all full of it here.

It's true. A lot of times when I see overweight adults, their kids are also very chubby.

Sometimes it goes back generations and it makes it harder and harder to keep control of the weight with each one. Some of the little kids at my school are so big. It's sad.
