WOW! Looks like I need to get my butt in gear and see The Departed. My favorite movie so far though would have to be Clerks II.

I really liked Clerks II, but I have a feeling it'll be a movie that grows on me the more I watch it.

POTC 2 sucked ass. It was kinda entertaining but it took on way too many plot lines, left nothing resolved, and then they bring back someone from the dead at the end. :Flush

X-3 was a close second to V for Vendetta. And an honorable mention goes to The DaVinci Code.

The Davinci Code was alright. They made too many changes to the book that weren't necessary.

Like what? I just read the book and I don't remember too much from when I saw the movie but I thought it ran along pretty accurately.

I hate to admit it...but it is "The Pursuit of Happyness". Made me realize what an under achieving person I have become....:monkey2

Casino Royale. :007

I had to look up The Departed on imdb to see what it was. I guess that one flew right under my radar.

POTC2, that's a really great movie. And I'm sure that the third one will fix plot issues, especially since they were written together I'm sure they worked it out so that some of the confusing stuff will have good explanations in the third one.

V for Vendetta was really good too. Still want to see The Prestige though, but I think it's in the discount theater now if it's still out there at all.

With the Da Vinci Code, they left out all the rational and reasoning that Landgon took into account to discover the "clues". Obviously it was only a 2 hour movie and with all the history, etc. it would have taken 6 hours to truly represent the book, but he just seemed to go from clue-to-clue in an insanely quick amount of time...

That's one of the reasons why I DON'T want to see it; to show if I'm not so lazy, I can actually achieve something...

Favorite movie? POTC 2
The best movie? Departed (so far) - mebbe Scorsese will finally get that elusive gold statuette

Haven't yet been able to see due to limited release: Pan's Labrynith or Children of Men. If the buzz is correct, then del Toro (and Inarritu and Cuaron) would probably give Scorsese a run for his money.

I felt that the Pursuit of HappYness (no, it's HappIness with an I) dragged too much. Its only saving grace was the great performance given out by Will Smith. He made that movie watchable. Anyone else, would have made this movie a snooze fest, and an outright loser. He deserves an Academy Award for all of the emotions he went through and exuded so perfectly. He came out looking like a real person. The end result, made for a feel good movie that was, well, good.

How someone could say Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest was awful, but X-Men 3 was one of the best movies made my eye twitch. Now, I'm not saying that POTC 2 was a masterpiece, it was far from it. However, it was still entertaining. X-Men 3 lacked in every way, story, writing, direction, and how characters were introduced into the movie. Almost like they were thrown into the movie from out of no where. Take the scene were Magneto takes out the bus of villians, and how each of them said we'll join you without any hesitation of convincing seemed something that would come from out a young child's mind. One would think with it being a high budget movie the special effects would be something else? Hardly. Overall, in this poster's opinion, it was a mediocre movie at best. I still stand on my opinion that Bryan Singer's X-Men 2 was by far the best of the 3 X-Men movies and the only rewatchable one.

YES...can't agree more with you on this one. Too bad both Labrinyth and Chidlren are SUCH limited release. I would have already seen them if they were in a theater near me.

I want to see both of those movies. I live in a city of nearly 1 million. You would think that they would find their way here, but oddly enough, no.

The whole idea of Children of Men and its cast, not to mention the bevy of critics rejoicing about its splendor has myself further pumped for this movie. Too bad that I'll have to wait for this one on DVD release. :(

To congerking, Goldeneye was definitely the BEST Brosnan Bond, and I thought it was pretty good...but I'd still rather watch The Matador if I was going to watch a Brosnan movie.

To Tom, I suppose you're right, Casino Royale should by no means be a Guilty Pleasure. It was a truly great action flick...and as I said earlier...the best Bond film since Connery's IMO...so it'll make the list of my 10 fave films of the year...

X3 and POTC2 were OK...but not as good as their predecessors...I didn't hate X3 as much as some...

I am looking forward to Children Of Men...looks like a good one (and 5 years ago, during his reign on BMW films, I would have LOVED to see Clive Owen as Bond...But Craig is FANTASTIC now!)

Perhaps my guilty pleasure will end up being Borat (would that count considering all it's great reviews on Rottentomatoes?) or maybe even Tenacious D in the Pick Of Destiny...

:naughty

Best overall movie was "Little Miss Sunshine"

Just out of curiousity for all those listing "The Departed," have you ever seen the original? I guessed that's what ruined this one for me. I thought it failed miserably in comparison. Although Jack Nicholson and Mark Walhberg were great.

I voted for the departed as my #1 of the year. I have seen the original, which is like 10000000x better, but I still loved the departed. I knew what was coming (except the parts that were changed), but it was interesting to see how scorcesee got to those parts.

Favorite movie, IMO, is a film I can watch over and over again, this year would go to Running Scared.

I'm sorry that you couldn't enjoy it. But, why must an adaptation/remake be compared to the original for validation? Why can't it be judged for its own merit or failures? Examples: The Magnificent Seven and A Fistful of Dollars are remakes of "Shichinin no Samurai" (Seven Samurai) and "Yojimbo." As much as I love the Kurosawa originals, I cannot belittle the remakes by saying they failed in comparison. Those were excellent films in their own right and deserve the status of "classic." Whether it be a book, story, TV show or a previous film, I choose to see any adaptations as brand new films. (I even gave the new "All the King's Men" an honest try...meh). And I feel "The Departed" falls into this category.

AMEN TOE! Running Scared is by far the most underrated movie for sometime. I bought it on DVD and I only buy 1 or 2 DVDs per year so you can see I think highly of it. See, it's one of those great rewatchable movies like the ShawShank Redemption, Frequency, Rat Race, and Shaun of the Dead.

TOE if you love Running Scared you'll love Crank just as much!!!
