Any long-time collectors here notice that newer doesn't always = better?
On the surface that's an obvious statement, but you would think that where 1/6 is concerned there would be a steady climb in accuracy, quality and engineering; but when the economics of manufacturing and marketing enter the equation it becomes clear that it's not a simple linear progression.
Hot Toys stormtroopers are objectively the best ever made when taking all factors into account, but it's fair to say Marmit is more accurate.
Hot Toys Iron Man Mark III Diecast is beautiful but their design and engineering decisions leave a lot to be desired. In spite of the ever present threat of pink panties (y'all have fun with that one) the Mark IV from years ago is arguably a better figure.
In spite of all the choice in the current market, these releases - even within a given company's specific line - appear to be all over the place.
