The amount of trolling in this section has gone up alot after TFAs release. Every TFA related thread is full of it. :(

Tell me about it. Two dinners with my girl's German parents and I'm already feeling it. We're taking a cruise from Hamburg to Helsinki, and due to crossing the date line, I believe we get TWO NYE. :horror

I do need to try this one day !

Going to see it tomorrow for the 3rd time.
Sent this pic to jjj, he thought it was cool, so I share it here.

Can't go anywhere on the internet and critique anything about the new Star Wars without being called a hater. People, I've been bitching about Star Wars movies since before you were born!

Oh, and hi guys!

Meh.... I think it's a given that there's things we all don't like. Monsters that Solo and Chewie were transporting were too Lovecraftian and didn't seem to fit. Weird Leia/Rey/Chewie hug/lack of hug scene at the end. etc....

Conversely, some moments that people seem to not like are things that will be answered in subsequent films. Who is Snoke? What's up with Rey? How did Kylo turn? Etc....

Yep, I totally understand people having things in the movie they don't like.

Listening to the audiobook now, and the scene with the alien tentacle monsters hunting people in corridors is so out of place. It would have worked fine IMO just to have Rey seal the two gangs in instead of accidently releasing the Rathars. Han and Chewbacca would still have escaped with them and brought them to Maz. And they could have added another scene with Snoke and Kylo were Snoke says Kylo is "unique" because he has both the dark and light side in him.

And I can see were people saying that they used too much inspiration from the OT are coming from. It was on the right side of the remake line for me.

But I've seen people saying the PT had better dialogue, that the special effects sucked and I just don't see how anyone can think that if they hadn't already decided to hate this movie. Not to mention that Han dies means it's a bad movie to some people.

^^Exactly. I would add that some of the derivative elements, while each one fine on its own as homage or call back, could add up to some folks as feeling too much like a reboot which this wasn't supposed to be. ROTJ had similar elements to ANH too with the second death star attack, though because of where the plot was and everything else going on, not to the same degree. That said, the positives in this movie far outweighed any negatives and I was captivated throughout most of the movie. Never felt the same sustained enjoyment during any of the prequel films.

So how are you guys celebrating Christmas?

I'm working everyday expect the 25th and we have plans everyday!

Tomorrow we are heading to my aunt to have the annual Christmas present game. (I don't know if this is a thing in other countries, everyone brings two cheap gifts and you throw dice and fight over them).

We celebrate Christmas on the 24th, and this year it will be at my fiancees brothers house. Then on the 25th we will celebrate with her father and his new wife. And on sunday with my relatives. Busy times. :)

And yes we will be having meatballs. :)

Well said.

My 2 biggest problems with the movie are Snoke (the CG looked way too CG, why not have him be a blue hologram head?) and the whole 3rd Deathstar thing. But Rey alone made the movie worthwhile. She was just so awesome and fun and a great addition to the Star Wars continuity.

Agreed! I bought HT Chewbacca more because I was curious and didn't want to miss out on what I've confirmed is a really cool figure...after TFA I'm doubly glad I did, because for the first time for me, I see him as a stand-alone character now.

I'm currently in Germany visiting with my girlfriend's family and will be in Finland for NYE. There is a LCS nearby...hmmm...
I was in Sweden for NYE once... I planned on going to Finland after, but skipped it. I was nearing 5 straight weeks of travel, and 4+ months away from home overall, so was eager to go back to London, and then fly home... I did go to Norway after Sweden, but that was the end of my European travels...

I joked that it was a guy who put it on that way so he could point it out in the film... "Look! That trooper is me! I can tell cause I put my pauldron on wrong so I could know which scenes I'm in."
:lol

It's a flipped image. The circle on their back is on the wrong side. Also, Daisy is holding the gun like a lefty and not a rightly. She's holding it like a rightly in a later shot.
Wow, you debunked that real quick! Had you noticed it yourself, or you found Google evidence?

Going to see it tomorrow for the 3rd time.

Running a marathon in a Chewbacca costume? Doesn't sound comfortable. If that was your first run, I'd say it was a wookiee mistake...

I'll just be finding some more victims... Oh, and possibly seeing The Hateful Eight in 70mm... Haven't seen a movie in the US in 70mm since ROTJ. Although I did see Spartacus in 70mm in London in 1991...

Rey alone made the movie worthwhile. She was just so awesome and fun and a great addition to my basement dungeon
:horror

Just got this from my cousin. Wow totally caught me off guard ! View attachment 231210
I'd exchange it. It's defective. You should get one that isn't upside-down...

I'd love to see it in 70 mm but there is one theather in the country that will be showing it! And it's a 6 hour drive (12 hour round trip) or I'd have to fly and that is atleast 5 hours of traveling time with transport and everything. :(

Maybe if they show it in Copenhagen.
