Re: (FLOSI'S Cantina) "Where everybody knows your name..."

Why did I invite you to Harry Potter land with me, kenben?!?!?!?!?

BANNED from future UT trips to Universal: Kenbenobi

:)
I expected that! :lecture

You're dead to me!
I expected that, too! :yess:

Regarding these current awards I'm glad George Miller and Fury Road are getting kudos but I really think Ex Machina and TFA should have gotten Best Picture nominations over FR. I haven't seen The Revenant but my gut tells me it will probably win.
I was SHOCKED that Fury Road got a Best Pic Nom... Creed could have been up there as well...

3. I'm worried Mad Max will take all the tech awards and Star Wars ends up going 0 for 5 :(

4. There's only one sensible solution, then. A tie :lecture

5. I've only seen Bridge Of Spies, Mad Max and The Martian. Seeing The Revenant soon and probably won't see the others until i get them on blu-ray.

I would have been cool with that. Now i wanna watch Lost In Translation again :lol

The Hateful Eight should have been nominated and not Bridge Of Spies. And i haven't seen it yet but i think maybe Carol should have been nominated as well. My monies on The Revenant as well. Why up the nominations list to 10 if you only select 8 or 9? Pick that extra film or two :lol

Still need to see Ex Machina. It's in my unwatched pile.
Never seen Lost in Translation. Is it that good? Hateful Eight deserved a nom for Quentin at least... Bridge of Spies was decent, but I didn't think it was Best Pic-worthy. Was surprised to see it... Ex Machina is awesome! That's why Alicia Vikander is one of my girlfriends... Her plus two TFA dudes makes it a Win-Win-Win!!!
I'd settle for an Oscar tie. I can't remember the last time there was a tie in any category. I think the last tie was for a foreign film, or something like that...
Those are the same 3 Best Picture films I saw!!! I do want to see Room, though. Brie Larson is one of my new girlfriends...

It will be VERY unlikely for Fury Road to win Best Picture considering it didn't get a nomination for Best Screenplay as well. That's almost unheard of. In fact the last Best Picture nominee to NOT get a screenplay nomination (whether it be Original or Adapted) was Titanic 19 years ago. Sure Titanic did indeed win but still.
Your evidence sounded convincing until you mentioned Titanic! :lol

@Khev: Lost In Translation is one of my favourite films of all time. Amazing work.

Re: C3PO's red arm; I have a crazy theory that he was used by the Resistance as a First Order plant to gather intelligence; and had just been extracted for debriefing.

Threepio as a Super Spy is a bit of a stretch, but I'm waiting for the spin-off film.
C-3PO has a one-shot comic coming out soon, which should explain the red arm...

Apparently the story of how he got the red arm is in one of the comics. I had heard it was the Shattered Empire (Journey to the Force Awakens) mini series but I read it this week and it wasn't in there.
Close, but no cigar! It is coming soon though... I just read about it today...

Hey Makayla Maroney!

She grew up NICE.
Who dat? Never heard of her... Oh wait, was she part of "The Fappening"? Name sounds vaguely familiar, but I have no idea who she is...

That's awesome. Funny that it's getting some mention now because I just watched it again for the first time in several years about a month ago. Absolutely captivating.

And now I just can't believe that right now, in theaters, is a true and worthy sequel to Return of the Jedi. Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo are in a Star Wars movie again. A good freaking SW film! As if there were never any "dark times" of SW. No SE's, no prequels, just SW, ESB, ROTJ, and now TFA. WE HAVE A FOURTH STAR WARS MOVIE!!! One that is thrilling, dramatic, and awesome. Talk about a pie in the sky pipe dream but it actually happened. It really is quite surreal.

It's weird, right? I'm keeping my HT collection stripped down, but I look at what's on my shelf and I have to look twice. Good times.

It's very good. You should definitely check it out.
A Best Director and Best Picture at least.
Agreed. Not a Best Picture worthy movie. But it got a Best Screenplay nom for the Coen Bros so maybe that's why.
Wait, what? :lol
It's happened six times: Best Actor in 1932, Best Doc short in 1950, Best Actress in 1969, Best Doc in 1987, Best Short Film 1995 and Best Sound Editing in 2013. So it could happen! :yess:

I just read a theory that Snoke is Yoda sized and intimidates people with the giant hologram. I think that'd be pretty cool! A little "Wizard of Oz" but hey, "borrowing with style" has kind of always been Star Wars' thing. I just hope he's huge or tiny. I feel like it'll be a bit of a disappointment if he just turns out to be another normal human sized being like Palpatine.

Oh and since my kids haven't seen it in 70mm IMAX I purchased three tickets for us all to go this evening, (their 3rd time, my *7th*) boo ya! :rock

I need to pick it up, I've only seen it three times and some of you freaks are in double digits already.

Well I'm in the "7 Club" now. :D

And now I don't feel bad for missing 3PO's gold arm. It's literally just the ONE group shot where he's waving off the Falcon at the end. :lol

It was fun seeing it on a Saturday night at 7:00 pm again. Had a good crowd, even on its fifth weekend. Seemed to have a good number of people that finally got around to seeing it for the first time. Lots of laughing at the funny lines, good energy. Always makes the experience more fun. This is another reason I'm trying to milk these repeat viewings. I will NEVER have the thundering IMAX sound (to say nothing of the size) at home, nor will I being watching with with a crowd of people who laugh and spontaneously applaud, etc. It will only ever have a "first run in theaters" once and I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

Mike, who you calling a freak? I tried to go again tonight, but no date, so...

Khev, ditto. I got a kick out of seeing it the ninth and tenth times with total newbies! :D

Pretty funny stuff!

Excited about my college class starting tomorrow. Going to be nice to finally start learning Japanese for real!

Mike, who you calling a freak?

I should know, we can smell our own kind.

I don't find SNL all that funny with this cast but this was hilarious.

Mikes post was much more yes worthy.

Agreed 100%. Haven't laughed at SNL in years and I thought this was great.

Anyone else seriously tempted to buy the 8-inch scale TFA TIE Fighter? I have a chance to get a damaged box one for just over $100 and it's killing me.
