Long story if you want to read about a typical day for me.

So many of you know I'm in the Army, Security field and all that hooah S#$% :lol. Well tonight I'm guarding none other than the public Library, which is designated a safe spot for anyone in need of help. I showed up around 7pm to my partners talking to a lady on the edge of the property. She had been beaten by her husband and kept from society for a while. No phone, no job, nothing. You know how those things go. So fast forward to 8ish, she had received help and was in safe hands. My partner Gary on the first floor radioed me that the husband was on the property looking for his wife (she is long gone). Once I got down there he jogged to his car (Silver Ford Taurus) and circled the parking lot and left. The staff is all females and now frightened. We know this guy to be a convicted felon etc. and one of the employees asked him if he needed help and he had a dead like stare at her ( we knew he was on some crazy drugs). So every 10 minutes after that he would circle the parking lot, stare into the entrance and leave. At this point I know I need to make sure everyone gets to their cars when we close at 9 and safely off the property. At 850 I head outside with Gary and sit on the Cement ball decoration. At 857 a pair of headlights pull in to my left (the top of the #6 shaped parking lot), the headlights turn left into the circle heading to the back(at which point we know it's a silver Ford Taurus), cuts across the middle and in between the islands turning right which leaves the car pointing at us. The headlights are in my eyes. Gary asked me if i'm ready and I reply with "yea, just stay safe." the car shuts off and the door opens. At this point in time I realize I have no protection ( I carry a handgun at almost all sites but this one). My heart is beating and I wonder what is the next play. The door shuts and the headlights turn off. It wasn't him. Just a man dropping his books off in the return box. Now I know as a reader this isn't the ending you wanted to hear but for me it was everything. How easily it could've been him (A man capable of anything with his state of mind) and then who's life changes at that point. I'm not superstitious but I think the world was telling me something with that Ford Taurus. What happened in the world to change the odds of all that. Timing, suspicious driving at closing time, Silver Ford Taurus, parks with headlights in my eyes.... It was like the butterfly effect. What was it that made that man not him. It was like a scene right out of a suspense movie. Look at your family tonight Freaks and just thank them for existing because that's what I took and learned from all this.

May the force be with you...Always. :duff

You do realize that 10 minutes earlier before he came to return books that guy killed and disposed of the crazy husband and stole his car right? Husband is cut up and in a freezer somewhere at the book returner's house. :D

Spill it! What ails ya Kenben?
I think it's an infection, which started in the throat 6 weeks ago, and is now going down the right side of my neck, and I believe into a gland or lymph node... Seeing the ENT tomorrow morning. It is extremely uncomfortable, but not excruciating. But it's been dragging on for far too long... Doctors are so hesitant to give antibiotics these days, cuz they don't want you to build up an immunity to them. But it's causing so much extra grief!!! I realize I could have SOOO many worse things happen to me, and others on this forum certainly have, so by no means am I trying to compare my situation to others... I just want to get it over with... We shall soon see if my non-expert diagnosis is right, or if it is something else...

Hopefully it's nothing too serious. I've grown to like you ya big lug. Have you ever had your tonsils removed?

Dude, infections don't go away without antibiotics. Tell them to give you some, STAT.

The worst it could be is instant death, following by turning into a zombie... But what are the odds of that? I still have my tonsils, but that definitely isn't the issue. It started spreading down my neck, into my salivary gland or lymph node...

The problem is, I was already given an antibiotic, but the issue didn't go away. And they were hesitant to give me another one, since if you build up an immunity to antibiotics, you'll eventually be killed by Superbugs.

Soooo, here's my status update. On Saturday, it started to spread from my throat to the right side of my neck. On Sunday and Monday my neck was HORRIBLE. It felt like a huge infection, with shooting pains from time to time. It hurt to touch, had a burning sensation, and hurt when I turned my head certain ways. But yesterday, it wasn't as bad. And today, it's not as bad. But it is still uncomfortable. If it was a huge infection, why'd it go away? My antibiotics ran out on the 9th, so I wouldn't think there'd be much left in my system anymore, and I showed no progress whatsoever until yesterday... The only thing I did was put a hot compress on my neck Monday night...

Anyway, the ENT said I seem to have an irritated salivary gland. It doesn't seem to be full of puss, so he doesn't think it is infected, although he said based on Sunday and Monday, it sounds like it may have been. But because there has been some progress, he doesn't want to jump to conclusions about an infection still in my system. He said to give it two more days, and if I still have discomfort, he'll have me go in for a blood test, to see if an infection is still found in my system. I kinda wish he had been able to see me on Monday, so he could have seen it at its worst, but I guess I should be glad it's getting better...

I know this isn't your real name, but it's too horrifying not to use. :lol
