When making a movie and looking for the part of Jerry Dandridge. How does one come to the conclusion and say "i got it, Collin Farrell would be PERFECT"

??

Also let us not forget the music in the original was excellent. And most filmmakers forget and overlook this in today's movies. (IMO)

Ill pay to see it but this remake is still a blaspheme in my book.

Look kids, it's Captain Jack Sparrow! haha, jk. I'm not comparing that dude to Johnny, it's insulting!!

I don't think Farrell was the worst choice, but his only convincing performance was in Phone Booth....so he definitely wouldn't be my first choice, and not my second, third, or forth either. I love Fright Night, and if I were to "remake" such a great film. I'd try to top it. In terms of casting the role of Jerry Dandrige...hmmm....I'd go with the likes of a charming actor, someone like Johnny Depp who could pull off the duality of the character, but if that couldn't happen, my second choice would be Eric Bana, and third would be Viggo Mortensen, forth would be Aaron Eckhart. Still, nobody like Chris Sarandon...he was born to play Jerry Dandrige...and Jack Skellington, lol.

I'm a fan of the original. I don't have much invested in it though. I thought it was a fun goofy 80s movie...if they remade night of the creeps I might be upset...but ultimately I think the time periods are what make these movies good. The fright night wolf transformation/death scene is really breathtaking though, they will no doubt not be able to top that. That rivals american werewolf for the best, sad, most painful wolf transformation IMO.

I dont care about collin farrel....I really like in bruge a whole lot...he's capable of multiple things I think.

The look of peter vincent in this sort of makes sense though. The kind of person who would be famous today for that sorta thing would be a fantastical character like chris angel or some tacky bullcrap like that. Good thing they didn't get russel brand to play himself again though.

I'm personally sort of offended by the The Thing remake...but thats another story.

So I take it I'm the only fan of the original who thinks this could be awesome?

No, you're not the only one. I know I've bashed on this movie earlier in this thread, but there's part me that hopes this movie is mildly successful. I'm going to see it regardless, just out of respect for the original and who's in this movie.

:lecture YES!!! I'm glad someone else thinks this. I thought I was alone.

The wolf transformation was amazing, and I was always a fan of Peter Vincent. But when I saw the Mindfreak angle I realized they probably nailed it perfectly for this era of tv posers.

Believe it or not, I think that one's going to be good. It's a prequel.

I was pretty pissed when I heard "remake" as well, but this might be a neat companion piece.
