Your really going to town on those sculpts. Monkian is lookin' good! I'm with King, you need to do a Panthro sculpt some time.

looks like someone's getting really good at this sculpting thing ;) :rock

about those pellets... do you find it's hard to get them in the right place? Seeing as when you put them in the clay the face presumably hasnt been done yet. I'd be worried about making them too far away or something but you wouldn't know until after you got the face done... which would mean you'd have to rip them out and re-do them.

I'm tempted to try them next time I sculpt eyes

Thanks Darren,

I've had a few times when later on in the sculpt I realized that one eye was misplaced... but sculpey is pretty forgiving so you can pretty easily just shift it around (usually poke it into place with a tool) and then repair the damage that has ensued.

Well, with King's encouragement I got started on a Mumm-Ra figure today. Just completed the sculpt... think he turned out pretty cool. I'm trying to figure out a good material to wrap him with... I'd like to find out what Sideshow used for their Mummy and Invisible Man (the exclusive) figures.

The top of his head, back of his head and neck are left basic as they will be covered with wrappings.

Freakin sweet J!!!!!!!!!!

Man, once you get him painted and wrapped he is gonna looks ^^^^in sick!!! I wonder what would make a good robe for him?? Maybe a Jedi cloak dyed red?? I dont know, either way, its gonna kick ass!

I think this is my fav sculpt by you! The nostalgia of Thundercats mixed with a kick ass sculpt:rock

VERY VERY cool J! Very cool!!!!

Thanks man, very glad you like him :rock

I think I'll get my wife to help with making a robe. I can get some red fabric and get her to whip together a robe (something similar to Jedi Luke's).

For fun I did a crummy mock-up of what he might look like with paint and wrappings...

that is awesome as hell GB..........& you just whipped it out???? :google. damn your good. for the bandages try using gauze.......maybe there are different thicknesses. :dunno

Thanks Barry... he wasn't too bad to do since I don't have to be super accurate, being a cheaply animated cartoon Mumm-Ra's face looked different from scene to scene :lol

I'd like to find some small gauze, but I bought some white ribbon today... its clean and shiny, but I'm hoping by roughing it up and tea bathing it I might be able to use it. But not very flexible stuff... so maybe a better option is out there.

Well... just having too much fun to sleep tonight :lol Got the head painted and bandaged, I never imagined how hard bandaging a 1/6 head would be and I still have the body to go :google But I really like how he's turning out... I'm using craft ribbon that I dyed in a tea bath and after its on I used very watered down paints to make it look dirty.

And just to give you an idea of what he'll look like with the cape and hood:

I think you did an amazing job here J. The wraps on the head came out great. I love how you have the loose wraps hanging low around the chin area!

This custom makes me very halcyon:monkey5

OMG!!! I don't even know who the heck that is...but it looks hella cool and hella creepy. The bandages wrapped around his head look absolutely f'n awesome!!!! Great job Joseph....and I mean really GREAT F'N JOB!!!! :rock :rock :rock

I can forgive your ignorance to the awesomeness that is the Thundercats :lol

Glad you guys (and gal) like him. I've got about 1/3 of the body wrappings done... and it is a beyotch. I can't feel my fingertips as they all have a layer of superglue on them :lol

Hopefully have him done in a day or so, really depends on how quickly I can convince the wife to sew up his robes.

That Monkian is cool. His nose looks a tad slanted, other than that the symmetry on your sculpts is sweet. You're capturing the likeness more and more, and still your own style is easily recognisable. Awesome.

WOW MAN!! Dude, you can do freakin anything. That Mumm-Ra looks AWESOME. Takes me back to my childhood bro, I'm back in the toybox again. :rock:rock:rock

Reminds me of the joy I felt when I got my Mail away Mumm-Ra figure. Ahh... the good old days.

I just love what you are doing lately man, they look stylized, yet cartoony, yet realistic... It's pure GB style. :duff
