galactiboy, your custom skill is just getting better and better. Look forward to see more of your custom, I really enjoy watching your custom figure. Good job!

Thanks Tony, I like that custom figure you did of yourself... great attention to detail!

And Thanks Les, I'm gald you like him. I think w/o your awesome kindness and inspirations many of us would be too daunted to pick up a brush :duff

And about the body... If I had the money I think that the new Drago figure would actually be perfect. The standard HT muscular is good... but maybe a tad short and not as extreme as the movie.

The Drago is so cartoony and massive that I think he'd be awesome. But then you've just added about $50 to the figure :monkey2

So after a long hiatus of doing nothing I got inspired while watching, of all things, Alien Nation. So figured why not try and make a Newcomer. So here's what I came up with.

This is a pic of the head, made from scratch using sculpy:

And after some paint, This is also just a loaner suit from Fox Mulder until something permanent comes in. He's still a bit of a WIP... I found some gouges and issues with the sculpt I want to fix with some putty, but I didn't have any so I painted him up anyway.

HOLY CRAP! That's nice work Joe! I was totally not expecting this so fast on the heels of the other sculpts.
Great work. I always liked that guy in that show. Good show. Cool idea.

Would he have some dots on his hands too? Can't remember. Seems like it would unify the design somehow. Just a thought. I can't remember the show that well in my head.

Great job. And regarding the "Too daunted to pick up a brush" bit, my answer to that is, JUST DO IT! :D Pick that sucker up and dip paint and slosh! Time to get messy!!!!! :rock

You did good bro! :chew

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback!

And Les, as far as I could tell the spots move down the back and then swirl around to the arm-pits. But no spots on the hands or anywhere else... at least visible on the show :naughty

One funny thing I noticed is if you look at different pics (which are near impossible to find on the web) the patterns on characters heads vary from episode to episode even.

:horror................

Those guys always creeped me out!! I cant even watch that movie.Their heads gives me the chills:lol

Very ugly figure GB:yuck

But very well done! :rock :rock :rock

That looks amazing GB!!! :rock :rock Keep it up! I can't wait to see more sculpts from you.

Holy hell that is fantastic! Great job GB! :rock Compare page one to this page and I can't believe how far you have come.

Great work, GB! About how long did it take you to do the sculpt?

I'm so glad this tread was bumped! :rock

Awesome figure Joe! I remember that show, used to freak me out when they would take someone to the beach to kill them with salt water... :google

You did an outstanding job making it happen, great sculpt and paint. :rock

I really love seeing your work, it has your signature style... which I always get a kick out of. It's all you bro, keep it coming.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate it :duff

And Batty, I spent around 4 or 5 hours on the sculpting end. Although after I painted him I noticed some odd gouges (a reason to use the gray) and the neck was a bit too thick at the base (thats what she said) so I'm actually cleaning those bits up right now.

I have a body, suit and some accessories coming to hopefully complete the figure.

Oh and Josh, I used your finger smear and thinned paint technique, its nowhere near perfect but it looks way better than any past effort. Do you use thin paints on the eyes as well?

It looks great! :duff

I've started sculpting, myself. I find it takes a lot longer than I expected.

Yeah, it can be a real pain... especially when you think you're almost done and realize one eye is too sunk in, or higher than the other :lol

Be sure to post some of your work :rock

Sculpting is definitely a learning process! I do find it extremely relaxing though... And time passes fast while I'm doing it. I will post pics as soon as I have something I want to keep. :D

I can't wait to see more of your work! :rock

While its not really sculpting (unless you consider the dremmeling) I completed my Christmas Zombie last night. Think he turned out pretty fun.

I used super glue on both the arms and his right hand to texture them, and decided he'd be a bit of a burn victim. I didn't like the idea of a great zombie hand and a clean one on the same figure. And I also skewered him with a knife.
