Thanks everyone for all the kind words. This bust was especially fun to photograph. It captures Gandalf's personality so well, and has such amazing detail. That's what I was trying to show in the close-up shots.

Utterly awesome...what camera and lighting did you use to create such professional pics!!

Please share!!
The camera isn't really anything special, just my trusty old Canon Digital Rebel with a 28-135 IS lens. The lighting is a couple of Alien Bees studio flash units with some poor man's soft boxes.

Very beautiful pictures RoboDad, really nice. Would you have any pic of the bust next to something...?? to compare the scale. Is it much taller than Marvel LSB?

Great photos, RoboDad!!!

The bust does look great, but I'm just not liking the white portion of the base. It looks like it's whitewashed or the paint was too thin. Is this the norm?

Yep, it is as it is supposed to be. The base is actually painted with a creamy yellow color, but it has been made to look sort of antiqued. It's hard to tell whether the darker "antiquing" color was drybrushed over the top, or whether it is an undercoat, with the yellow paint thinly applied over the top. I think it is the former. But either way, the effect is very nice.

Ohhhh, so pretty indeed Robodad.

The likeness looks great, imo.

Congratz everyone.

Got mine today, #118. It's much smaller than I was expecting, not that that is a bad thing, will help with display options. I've only seen the ML LSB in person, and that was huge. I guess it will help to maintain the scale: Sauron > ML > Gandalf. So the Balrog must be HUGE.

I must agree with Flyandfight in not liking the cream colored base. I would have greatly preferred something darker. Other than that this is a wonderful piece, low edition, great price, tremendous sclupt and quality. Please do some orcs in this manner.

Here is Gandalf LSB at home with the other Gandalfs.

While I don't have nearly the display as Grond (that is sweet dude), and not quite the nice pictures of RoboDad (please share your picture taking techniques), I do have a ton of new high-res images over at The Green Dragon!

Please take a minute to check them out: Gandalf LSB Archives

Here is a quick one for viewing pleasure:

Wow, that really is a significant size difference. And I hadn't really thought about it until now, but it is strange that the base is nameplate-free for Gandalf and the Wiki, but not for any of the others. Very odd.

Perhaps that's the reason (gandalf without nameplate and hugh base) of the lower cost for the piece compared to the Morgul Lord and Sauron.

Somehow, IMO, for human head, if the size is too huge, it doesn't goes that way...
