I've seen the GTW PF in person and I have to agree that the likeness just pales in comparison to Aragorn. I'm quite a big collector of SSC products and I l love what they're doing, but this one just can't escape my criticism.

I just couldn't get over the harsh lines on his forehead, the cartoonish eyebrows, the oversized nose. the thick stache, the onnatural and innacurate way the beard moves up to the lower lip and not to mention the lack of detail in the hair and the way it springs from the forehead.

:rotfl:rotfl

So, are you keeping it?? :lol

Mine I can't wait get this piece.... I never expect any scultped hair to be perfect... and to do is is really high ...

But with all the detail I do see... I would be very happy with such a piece in my collection.

Some quick shots of the portrait:

Great shots LOTR Fan, and I have to say looking at this picture in particular how can anyone say thats not Gandalf or a good likeness?? I think this is a piece like many others, that really depends on how you display it, angle, shelf height and lighting etc. This statue IMO I think is becoming a grower for many who weren't convinced first time around.

If I don't get a tracking number for this soon I'll be hospitalized for "waiting stress" :rotfl

I think it's a give and take due to the "multi-media" being used. The hair and beard needed to lay over the clothing and thus had to be sculpted thicker than to scale in order to avoid breakage, when the statue was to be outfitted.

The outfit looks beautiful. The facial features actually do capture McKellen/Gandalf quite well, in my opinion. But my only major complaint is with the "Let's play Twister" pose. It's almost as if there were two different poses in the running for final pose and they simply got mixed in together.

I agree to some extent but this is why I think its important how you display him so that he doesn't look like he's doing the Hokey Pokey!!!:lol

I really LOVE this statue and I haven't even got it yet, and murder is very close to being committed in Dublin if it doesn't come soon!! :lol

Thanks mate, and yes it is a LOT to do with position. The backward lean is difficult to get just right.

Just a comparison picture. To me, especially the moustache and the beard are way off.

Will someone please do a comparison with the SSW gandalf white bust and statue with this to see the difference...

it seemed that they don't bother to do the beard and moustache at all, at first I can't put my words to it whats wrong... now it is so obvious...
