yep just a little touch up is all that's required for that fix.

yeah i noticed that also, nice low number.

after you've done replying to one quote just highlight the whole quote and reply and cut or copy it, then when you go to reply/quote to next response, just paste it and type in your next response.
just make sure you leave a line or two between each cut and paste, that way it's a bit more legiable.

:lol or you could just use the multiquote button, bottom right of the post, second button in

Ah, learn something new everyday. Thanks to both of you for the help.

for some odd reason the thing about Gandalf that bothers me the most is the flat bottom shape of the robe.

looks like a nice piece overall but that gandalf just ruins it for me. He looks way too pristine with his paint apps. I think that is the main factor making him appear cartoonish and is a stark contrast to the well painted balrog.

I wonder why the grip color on Glamdring is wrong (brown) they got it right on the 12" fig - and of course the Weta pieces?

Why did they get the colors wrong on the Moria Orc PF?

Quick question, does the flame whip have to go up gandalf's skirt?

It doesn't have to, but the end of the whip has a peg that attached to gandalf's leg/angle.

If you look at the pics I posted, the three pronged end of the flame whip is sculpted onto Gandalf's right ankle/leg, so if you don't attached the whip to the leg, it'll look a little weird. I guess you could make the argument that Gandalf's leg is on fire.

Have to agree with you... the Gandalf would probaby look better with just bit of weathering. He was fairly dirty by this point and would (even in this scale) be a bit more ragged.

Also, not sure about the translucent parts; they look okay, but the painted poly does look better. Wonder if it was a cost, aesthetic or even functional decision to change it.

I'd say aesthetic most likely. If it looks the way it does in pics I like that change actually. Give a bit more real feel to it.

Yeah, I have no issue with the translucent whip. The minor issue is that when you attach the whip to Gandalf's leg, the sculpted end around his ankle is orange polystone, which doesn't match well with the translucent whip.

I apologize for quoting my own post, but the first two pics on the top really don't make Gandalf seem that cartoonish. I guess I didn't really check him out that closely.

Those two pics look quite good actually. For the scale, the likeness is definately there. It's too bad his sword looks like it's terribly bent. I'm not really digging the gummy bear whip either. Overall it looks like a decent piece, just not for me though. Thanks for the pics though!

I hadn't noticed that part around the ankle in your pics.

Yeah, I've been trying my best to straighten his sword out a little more. It was really bent in the box; both the hilt and blade were both curved downwards towards Gandalf. I've been trying to straighten it more, but I don't want to push it. I may be mistaken, but there seems too be a hairline fracture right under the hilt. With my luck it'll snap right off if I push it too much.

Yeah, it's not that bad, but still noticeable. Maybe Sideshow should have stayed with the orange polystone instead of the translucent plastic.

I still really like this piece. Maybe I'm biased because it's the first LOTR dio I actually picked up (I pre-ordered all the others but I ended up cancelling). I really want the Fell Beast vs. Gwahiir dio, but I'm not sure where I would display that one.

How about some pics from the others who received this piece?

I've gotta get this piece. I actually have the FB vs Eagle but its still locked away in the box. :( This though I would find a place to display with my other Balrog pieces.

Go for it man. I'm going to have to find a way to display my Balrog, Flame of Udun Polystone Statue, the "You Shall Not Pass!" Wall Plaque, and this dio together.

Nice pics there at the end.

The Balrog looks fantastic. Equal to the SS/Weta offerings in terms of sculpt and paint apps. The whip material is fine with me. I think a polystone whip would have been too fragile. This one appears to be sturdier and captures the "glow" of flame a little better. Works with the flames on his back.

Unfortunately, I feel that Gandalf looks just as bad as he did in the proto and SDCC pics. Gandalf hurts this piece for me. He looks "simple", for lack of a better term, compared to the fidelity of detail found in the Balrog. I also would have preferred having him posed on the Balrog's chest, plunging Glamdring in.

I agree Alex, not to mention too heavy. I imagine it would begin sink in time, just like the original Balrog whip.

I think part of the problem is the paint app's....he just looks too "clean". I'm actually thinking of contacting a sculptor to see what it would cost to have a Gandalf made in the pose you mention. It certainly would have been my choice as well.
