By the way, I bought some of the knee pads Dr. Odd linked to above, and they are way too big. . .anyone need some of those knee pads?

And any suggestions on the little hooks that go on these belts? Both Elvis and rnagata came up with some great ones, but I have no idea where they got those.

Haha sorry, I didn't recommend them exactly, just said that's what I was gonna try. I ordered them the night before I posted and still haven't recieved them. Sorry to hear that they won't work though.

It almost looks like one comes in this set, but I can't tell for sure. Look at the keys on the belt.

Yes that does look right but if you can get them without the whole figure that would be better.

Glad you made this thread as I have been meaning to start my venkman for about a year, but finding all the info in the other big threads is a bit of a nightmare.
Gunna use this head for now as it was cheap and still improving my paint skills.
Plus I think the expression and likeness is pretty good, who originally made it?
I think the original overalls are a pretty good likeness and colour but am sure when I check the film later I'll probably change my mind.
Is the original head sculpt too cartoony or has anybody repainted it with success?

That looks like a scumbag diver4 recast of the Venkman sculpt that was done by Joy Snyder. A custom Venkman was made by Andgor for Toyfare magazines wish list. This was probably 10+ years ago. Andgor sold some castings and then it started being recast by diver4 who still offers them on ebay. If you were able to get a casting from Andgor and not the distorted recast it is a good likeness. Joy recently did a new sculpt of Venkman that came out really nice. That is the head I plan to upgrade my Matty figure with.

Toy Anxiety broke down the LAPD cops. I'm sure they'll do this one as well.

It probably is a diver recast as I bought it second hand of another seller on ebay
It is very poor and has one very large nostril and one normal and a few air bubbles, but best I have to hand.

Would be very interested to see the new sculpt done by joy as this one is very good despite the recasting issues.

Yup that looks very good, in fact I'd say that is the best out there.

I like spensers and roccos aswell but that gets the expression right for me anyway.
Hope I can get mine looking half as good at least.

And that ray stanz custom with the containment unit is insane

Use a toothpick for the eyes and have a good supply as the end gets worn or clogged with paint.
