I might give it a go for grins.

Can't wait for a few suits that are coming my way for commissions as well, one of my all time favorite movies to present a representation of.

That would be cool, can't wait to see what you do with it and the figures.
What head sculpts are you painting up?

A set of Rocco's for Rocco. Also a few others have sent some sets (heads and figures) as well.

Thanks man,

Haven't added the cigarette yet, but wanted opinions before I did.

Looks great! Wish I had your skillz, Tekkaman.

Well, I tried my hand at dyeing the Soldier Story suits. I wanted to take a conservative approach, considering that these suits are about $15-20 a piece, and I didn't want to overdo it. On the other hand, I didn't want to dye them one at a time for fear that they wouldn't look uniform. So, I tried dyeing them with 5 cups of water and about 1/3rd a teaspoon of the RIT Pearl Gray dye. My first time dyeing anything, by the way. I got the water hot, mixed in the dye, added the suits, and stirred them for about 15 minutes. The result is pretty subtle, but an improvement IMO. I took some pics in the same place in similar lighting before and after, but in hindsight should have taken both with a Matty jumpsuit for easier comparison.

I'm thinking about giving them one more go in the dye, but. . .maybe not :lol

--edit: after looking back at Mr. E's earlier pic, I think these have to be dyed more. In fact, I may do twice as much dye next time around.--

^^ Still a BIG improvement from little effort. Thanks for posting that! Be sure to take pictures next dye.

I'm thinking the Mattel suits need about a teaspoon of Pearl Grey, then water treat them afterwards. *goes off to find the dye*

It could be a little while, I still need to order Egon and Winston. I could only afford so much last month. Probably won't be able to till next week and then however long shipping takes. But I'm anxious to finish the set. Once you get the paint going, you can really see the likenesses. Rocco did a great job on them.

I finished round two of dyeing, and I think these are good. I used the Matty suit as reference. These pics are with flash, because you can see the difference better with it.

In hand, there is a noticeable difference now from what these once were and what they are now. They have that grayish, washed out tint to them that I was looking for.

Dye job looks great! I've been contemplating waiting until I have all my suits too before I dye them. Definitely have to pick up some new boots as well. Was hoping the Matty ones would be okay but they are freakin HUGE.

Hey X, in huge you mean in fitting to the HT TT's?

We could perhaps tailor them.

Looking good Kara. :rock

I believe Takka's using Trypes on his Ray and Pete so they should accomodate HT feet, but in-hand they seem some so wide. Especially at the tops. If they were just a little smaller they'd be ace.

Great, sounds fixable, thanks X.

Not sure if this has been posted, but I don't think I've seen it in here yet. This is it what actually sold me on going the flightsuit route. I'm not sure if it's 100% authentic, but it looks pretty good to my eyes.

Its funny how your perception of things changes when you research customs. :lol I always just figured they were wearing some sort of average Joe coveralls. Now I know...
